The only thing I felt was unbelievable was Leo playing Frank. The reason the real Frank got accepted as all of these professional men was that he actually looked older than he was. And Leo has a baby face. How anyone would have thought he was older is beyond me.

Fun facts. The film has a great deal of truth in it while much of it is fiction. Frank really did escape the airplane, however he didn't escape from the toilet airplane, but through the kitchen. As he pretended to be a pilot for many years, he knew his way on the airplane, and he would have known how to escape through the toilet if he chose to. Frank did pretend to be a pilot, lawyer and a doctor. Unlike the film, Frank never saw his father again after he ran away from home when was 16.

This was one of those surprise movies, where you don't expect much, you just sit down and watch, and it sucks you in and won't let you go. Incredible actors, perfect director work, well-written story (sure, inspired by true stories, but I'm sure it's dramatized as much as needed). Love the movie! And it definitely is a christmas movie, so well timed. :)

I'm a kid of the 70s and I loved comic books, especially super hero ones, incl The Flash. I had hundreds of them. 15 years after I moved out, I found out my parents had thrown them all out. Ouch! Pan American Airlines (PanAm) was the most prestigious and legendary airline in the world back then. They flew all over the world at a time when int'l travel was a luxury only the wealthy could afford. Being a PanAm pilot or stewardess was a very prestigious job. It was the height of the "Jet Age" which captured everyone's, especially kid's, imaginations. I used to collect little plane models of all the world's airlines. I still often look up at the sky watching a plane as it flies overhead and wonder where is it going? The airport terminal you saw at the beginning was the TWA terminal at JFK airport. It was one of the most modern and beautiful terminals of the time. It was preserved from demolition by being converted into a hotel for the new terminal in 2019. He really was on "To Tell the Truth". Of course by that time he had no reason to hide his identity and story anymore.

Remember what his farther said about why the Yankees win - its not man, is the uniform. So when Frank goes back to same back that rejected his attempt to cash a check, the manager doesn't see him, he sees the pilot's uniform. Sometimes that all it takes - the right look.

21:00- it's an old joke: "A prostitute comes into a bank to deposit her cash. The clerk looks at the money and says "sorry, it's counterfeit". Prostitute runs out of the bank screaming "help, I was raped!"

Love Catch Me if You Can. And yes, at least in the film, Frank was really in love with Amy Adams' character. That wasn't fake.

This was also made into a Broadway musical.

42:42 - it's more than smart. People study for years and not everyone passes the bar exam. If this is true (which I doubt), than Frank is a certified genius, one in a million.

Movie recommendation: Shot Caller (2017) starring among many others Nikolaj Coster-Walday (Jamie Lannister you know) and Jon Bernthal. Family man Nikolaj makes a mistake and winds up in a California state prison, and once inside it's sink or swim. His time in prison is told in flashbacks, while we follow current day Nikolaj as he at the start of the movie is released from prison, and he struggles to complete a deal he can't back out from. Fantastic performances, and with a haunting score. The last movie that had me this gripped was Sicario (2015), and that's saying something.

Another movie I recommend with a real story kind of like this one is "I love you Phillip Morris". It's with Jim Carrey in the lead role of the con man Steven Russel and Ewan McGregor plays Phillip Morris.

Have you seen Spielberg's film Lincoln? I found it surprisingly entertaining. (Only because my instinct is to avoid historical stuff.)
