I'm only five minutes in and it looks like a top session! 🎣🎣👍

It was, but a bit of a grind through low water, hard to get the fish active but it did pick up. Unfortunately, daylight faded.

Great session Nathan. You need a set of scales on the boat mate 😂 And a new landing net. I've caught some great cod out of Dunbar and it's great to see you getting some great specimens 👍
@SlippyLimpets6 күн бұрын
Funnily enough I have a set of scales on the boat, but I always forget to weigh the fish. I love fishing around Dunbar, especially at this time of year, normally always get some great cod and pollack. Don't seem to get into any bass at Torness though🤷

Beautiful looking port that. Beautiful. By port, I mean harbour!! (PS...loving the outtakes at the end. Just appeals to my SOH).
@SlippyLimpets6 күн бұрын
It is a lovely little port, and the fact I can stay in the car over night is a real bonus. Most harbours don't allow it. I've got plenty outtakes now, sure there's enough for a full video!

The weather has been shocking, every weekend seems to be blowing a gale. Although, yesterday and today seem good. Hope you get out soon, Pete. Tight lines!👍🎣

Great work mate, Pretty sure you came zipping past me while I was kayaking at Torness this day. You were pretty far away unlikely you would have spotted me. Great to see you catch some fish, I started well but ballsed up and had to come in. :)

Not bad at all for a winter sesh on neaps. The water clarity looks excellent for the time of year. How do you find the baitcaster as opposed to fixed spool?
@SlippyLimpets6 күн бұрын
I really like it for vertical fishing and small casts- the thumb release is a game changer and being able to thumb the spool to vary sink rate is great. The only quibble is that it has too much winding power, which pretty much reduces the quality of the fight.
@Oli.Brown.6 күн бұрын
Interesting, thanks. I’ve wondered whether it would feel a bit cack handed but the control rate is what really appeals. By the sounds of it, it would be a good reel for deeper water and wrecks. But then would you just go slow pitched rod and reel? 🤔 Hmmm…decisions, decisions. Thanks again.
@SlippyLimpets6 күн бұрын
@Oli.Brown. yeah, I know what you mean. I originally got that reel for tope fishing, so i got the 400 size. Probs too big for what I was suing it for. Would be good in deep water/wreck fishing with heavy lures, though, more than enough power to stop a fish from heading back to it's hole. A slow jig setup would be great, too, although not as versatile.

The same thing has happened me twice with penn battle 3 reels sometimes they back wind and sometimes they don’t, do you know how to fix it?
@SlippyLimpets6 күн бұрын
I'm not sure, I have a Battle 3 but not had any problem with the back wind, except for the lever sticking. But that is due to poor maintenance on my part. This Daiwa MQ doesn't have a back wind, so I suspect the gears are knacked

Why did you keep putting the net away instead of leaning it in a corner?
