Out in my Warrior 175 for the first time this year. The main aim was to put the engine and auxiliary through their paces after last year’s breakdown. Does landing a bumble bee mean I didn’t blank???

As earlyer mentioned, you have saved a bumblbee. The reason why i watch your video's, is because you you are a nice, well spoken person that has respect for nature. Seeing you save a humble bumble, confirms to me your channel is worth watch Nice to see you back on the water. Hope you are more lucky next time. Greetz from Stipo

Nice to see you back out on the water, at least you gave it a good go and a day out on the water is never a wasted day.👍

A man of my own nature, regards bumble B . I'm forever rescuing them of the roads in summer and reviving especially after being hit with a car. But before I handle it I make sure it's not a red hot poker . Then I place it inside a yellow flower close by after warming it up in cup of my hand breathing warm air inside. That's a first I've seen one at this time of year especially in the water. Grateful thanks n looking forward to additional bids later. Cheers from Scotland ❤️

It is nice to catch some fish, but sometimes it's just great to be out, it was good to see one of my favourite fishing spots "Hippo" behind you 🤓🎣🐟

It was horrendous out there today Rob , really dangerous out on the bar with huge swells , I blanked as well , first time in ages , great to see your boat set up on Saturday, huge tides today , the water was in the car park early doors as it was 5.3m and had to recover the rib with the trailer and jeep in the mud this afternoon at low water …

Well done Rob. That was a bit of a confused sea; been in plenty like that on my kayak. Makes for an emotional paddle back in. I fished about 3 weeks ago and launched at high water, from North Sands. The wind conditions were light northerly, about 6mph and it was relatively neap. I was expecting to drift east towards Prawle, but to my surprise, I went slowly west straight away. Of course, I was expecting to drift east for about high+ 2.5 hours and then move west. Can you make sense of this for me as it was totally at odds with what normally happens on SW Devon coast? The Skerries, for example 'behaves'😅
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe 5 күн бұрын
Thanks Martyn! Close in shore I would expect the tide to change pretty soon after high water to the westerly drift but there are many local factors that will affect the tide book times. I can’t say for certain but 3 weeks ago the storms were probably brewing in the Atlantic. Deep low pressure in the Atlantic might of coincided with high pressure in the southern North Sea, this could hold back the easterly flow and make the westerly drift come in quicker and stronger. Just a thought? I was expecting slack water on this trip and 2.5knots of west drift, despite a brisk wind from the west. You can make the best plans but ultimately you have to play it as it develops on the day I suppose.

@fishingsalcombe thanks Rob. There's so much that mother nature can 'tweak'. Best laid plans, etc. Was somewhat annoying, aside planned a 'lazy trip', working with the tides and wind. In fact, this has worked to my advantage in the past when launching at Hope Cove. Although the drifts tend to go somewhat diagonally towards the shore, all I had to do was readjust offshore. An hour of paddling in 6 hours. The trip above was equal amounts and not getting any younger😄 I suspect my 11-sessions are behind me! Once again, thanks for your sage advice🙂

As you say better to be out than not even if the conditions for catching were poor. Should have weighed the Bumblebee, might have been a British record! 😂 Better luck next trip 👍

My GoPro Hero 7 started to freeze after four years of trouble free use. Turned out to be the SD card that was causing the issue. Could be worth trying a different / new card.

Same here to be fair. Decent chance of good pollock until the end of Feb if you can get out on the wrecks but then very little until the sandeels return around April 🤞

In the warmer months of 2025 would you be able to do a video targeting Gilthead Bream up the various different parts of the Estuaries?
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe 5 күн бұрын
Thanks Simon, I’ll bear that in mind but I rarely fish the estuary. It can be a very productive Gilt Head fishery but my passion for the sport is out at sea. 👍

I enjoy your videos and have been watching almost from when you 1st started but for me I can’t understand putting out a video when you don’t catch anything could you please say at the beginning if no fish are involved so I can choose to opt out if i want to
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I put the video online because blanking sometimes is the reality of fishing in the UK and I like to keep my videos as true as possible, not just selected good highlights. I did put in the description that I’d only caught a bumble bee but I hope the next one will be more productive for you. Thanks for your support 😊👍

@ sorry I didn’t see the description so my apologies for that ill make sure i read them in the future. I will say that you pointing out the slipway was handy as my friend and i are planning to bring out fish pros to Cornwall to explore the coast line and do some fishing in April. And many thanks for the reply 👍
