Sea water is the best for cooking crab. Perfect salt content. When I fished Crab in the bering Sea, we also used sea water for cooking Kings and Tanners. What a life back in 1980.

The ONLY way to cook crab is fresh sea water. if you're doing regular water and adding salt it will NOT cut it. Im so thankful to live in oregon an hour from the coast. We have a beach house in Ocean Side and go crabbing on a regular basis. Doesn't get much better than Dungeness crab
