@@jasminelangcaster-james8297 In another vlog Rhiannon said she was saving it all to do one long video after the wedding that inc the planning...I was disappointed too but then I thought maybe its that she doesn't want people potentially criticising her choices before the big day or ruining surprises for family/friends who watch the vlogs....there's sadly always some negative people on YT. But, yes, I would love to see the journey of planning stuff and Im not even into weddings but would still enjoy it

the raglan stitches (especially the purl stitches) look a bit more gap-ish when you are purling a bit loosely, which is pretty normal but that also means, that you can try and tuck at that stitch and the next one a bit more to help with that! i’ve also experienced that ❤

Sweater looks fantastic!! Well done! German short rows aren’t easy! Very impressive. Blocking should help your sweater holes. If they still annoy you after take a tapestry needle and some yarn and close them up a bit after. Re. wedding dress- I got really stressed at not finding anything my style (it was all lace and bling when I was looking) so I got something really simple made by a costume designer!
@Mollyyca5 Жыл бұрын
Fellow knitter and crocheter here! Once you have finished your jumper you should ‘block’ it. I’m sure there’s plenty of videos to explain it but you hand soak it with some cotton wash (how long you do it depends of the yarn you used) and you dry it with block and pins, you essentially stretch out the imperfections. So if you want it longer, you stretch out the length and pin it down so it drys longer. But a warning is to definitely check the fibre as some like superwash tend to get bigger and expand on its own without needing to stretch. It may also help with the raglan increases you have on the sleeve. Good luck!

@Tayster13 Жыл бұрын
btw you can easily add length to your sweater when you block it! Just give it a streth, pin in place on blocking mats and let it dry. You can also hide the holes while blocking by kind of massaging them and squishing them together
@meulanier8179 Жыл бұрын
Don't be too harsh on your first knit ! After a good blocking, it might grow a bit in the length and the holes on the raglan increases might smooth. If it's still not how you want it, you can use a bit of leftover yarn to fill them in from the inside with a duplicate stitch. And for future projects, you might want to tighten the stitches around the increases to make sure there is no gap. Time and practice will make it less noticeable but you can already be very proud of yourself !

Completely relate to not having the magical wedding dress shopping experience you hear about/see in films - I found the whole thing really stressful and ended up impulse buying a dress from Oliver Bonas in St Pancras station that caught my eye before rushing for a train (we had a low-key wedding so I wanted something that I could wear again). I spent the following months with that as my ‘if all else fails’ dress forcing myself to keep looking (dragging my mum to shops with me etc.)… in the end, I didn’t find anything I liked as much as my ‘backup’ dress so I went with that - and felt really special in it on the day. I have no regrets about my choice of dress, but I do regret how much I worried about it (typical me)! Thank you for being honest about your experience - you’re certainly not the only one who found their wedding dress in a way you hadn’t pictured - but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. Good luck with all your wedding prep - as someone who suffers with anxiety too, I know how overwhelming it all can be. Sending love xx

Love watching your vlogs and totally feel the same about January. Couple of tips for your sweater - when you get back round to where you’ve done a ‘make one’, try knitting that stitch through the back loop which will tighten it up and lessen the gap. Also, the sweater will grow in length as you wash and wear it. You can block it by giving it a good soak, gently squeeze out excess water then lay it flat and just carefully stretch it to the length you want. Hope that helps ❤

What kind of stitch markers do you use? I found that using the cheap colourful plastic ones leaves gaps when you knit. You can buy some thinner wire ones that work much better (they kinda look like safety pins), I got mine from eBay but I think PetiteKnit sells some on her site too!

My wedding dress experience was very similar… absolutely trawled the shops couldn’t find anything I was 100% happy with so I picked the cheapest one I was the most happy with and took it to a dressmaker who added colour underneath, an underskirt and some sleeves and took bits off, he even made me a gorgeous veil to match my dress and I honestly could not have been happier with it… it was also a massive way that we saved money! everyone is different and if you’re into even slightly alternative looks it can make the process so hard! 😭

Hi! I got married last September (very short time to organise around 6 months) and I just wanted to say, as someone who is VERY slim a size 4 UK. I skipped the whole shop experience knowing I would struggle to find 1 what I imagined and 2 something that would fit properly! I ended up ordering a few options (actually went with the very first dress I put in my basket) and trying them on alone too. I much preferred it as it was a complete surprise to everyone apart from my Mum who kept it at her house until the day! I was extremely lucky to have a friend who does wedding alterations, who took the tulle skirt for me as I went for trainers as my wife is a foot and a half shorter than me! Haha! So a sweet reminder for you, your wedding day is exactly that. Yours, no matter what other’s experience may or may not be. It’s about you and Doug and your personal experience 🥰🥰

So personally I didn’t get emotional when I found my dress, I thought my dress was pretty and I liked how I looked but I didn’t cry at all. My maid of honour (also the person who owned the wedding dress shop where I got my dress) said only 10% of brides cry and get all emosh, at the end of the day it’s a dress, it’s an outfit for one day of your life. Yes you need to like it but you don’t need to be overwhelmed by your beauty that you cry. Just needs to be something you know you will look back on and like how it look! Xx

For a first knitting garment it’s really good this is your start point imagine how good it’s going to look as you progress. My advice leave the word wedding out of anything you buy for the wedding dress, cake, venue and flowers. To get prices just say you need them for a special event/occasion I swear you can save hundreds on the cost of your wedding for example price on wedding cake quoted 500 rang the next day price for pretty much the same cake that we added the flowers to ourselves from our garden 250. It’s amazing how the word wedding seems to add to the cost. My dress was vintage and made to fit by a dressmaker cost me 200. You really can cut cost if you think out of the square.

Your jumper is great. There are always slight gaps with M1R and M1L especially on such chunky yarn. You might find they fill in a bit when you wash and block the jumper, you may even find the length will grow a bit. (blocking is MAGIC :)) I think you've done amazingly well for your first jumper!

Getting married in April this year and had a similar experience when wedding dress shopping here in New Zealand. I visited about 10 shops over the course of 12 months and could not find a thing I liked despite trying on all the different styles. I think it was a combination of feeling really weird in a dress (I never wear dresses or skirts!), a lack of body confidence and also most of the sample dresses in the shops were several sizes too big so it was very hard for me to imagine, even with them being pulled in with clips, what the dress I was trying on would actually look like when made to my size. I was close to giving up then found 2 dresses - both the same style but one very "me" and one not as much. I had actually tried the style on 12 months previous and had written it off. I went away for 2 weeks to see if I kept thinking about the either of the dresses (I did) and then went back and tried them on again. I picked one and to my surprise there was no overwhelming "this is the one" feeling, no fireworks, no champagne, no screaming giggly girliness like you see on tv. My "this is one" feeling for me was that I felt comfortable and like me but also knowing I'll feel a little bit "extra" without going out of my comfort zone. Every few months I question whether it's the dress for me but as soon as I put it back on, I love it and know it was the best one for me out of all the ones I tried on.

My experience with my chunky handknits is that they actually grow a bit in length, when you wash them after they are finished. I always wash my handknits to be sure that excess dye from the yarn will be washed out, and not irritate my skin or rub off on other clothing. Another bonus from washing your handknits when they are finished, is that the stitches and drape of the fabric you've knitted will even out and look a lot better ✨☺️

Hey Rhiannon, your jumper looks amazing! What a great first knit!! For your hands you could try Epsom salt soaks (just a couple of scoops in a pot of warm water for 15-20 min) and ten slathering La Roche Posay hand cream on. It helps my stepdad a lot with his arthritis in his fingers and soothes the skin. :)

I had a horrible wedding dress-shopping experience (but it did end happily!!). I'm a plus-sized woman and I was so looking forward to getting my dress. A friend of the family had been to this one boutique (she was getting married around the same time) and she was given champagne and had a wonderful experience. I went in and they literally looked me up and down and said "we won't have anything to fit you here" oooh I could get upset now thinking about it. I was devastated. I then went to another boutique where I think I then overcompensated and said "I will lose weight so we can look at slightly smaller sizes". The woman then looked me up and down again and said "let's face it, that probably won't happen" - that place actually made me cry. Then I went to a third shop and I was so over it by this point. I said "I know you'll probably not have anything to fit" to which this lovely woman said "darling we've got modesty panels we can use for any bits that don't zip up, we can pin any of these dresses on you to give you a sense of what it would look like - everything is made to measure so don't even worry if we haven't got your size here, we'll make it exact later" She was so wonderful, she made me feel special, and when I put on what would be my wedding dress I felt a million dollars and cried for the good reasons. We then customised the design to make it more "me" (the original dress had a high neckline and I wanted a v-neck etc.). So I TOTALLY get where you're coming from. I think when you find the right dress you'll just know it. Don't be afraid to ask for customisations, and go for a style YOU like, not something you think you should wear. Good luck with it and sorry for the long comment haha!
