I hear all these 'bad' stories of Billy Robinson from former pro wrestlers, and I just had to search him up. This legend has done more to serve the community than the likes of Superstar Billy Graham. The fact he's been teaching since at LEAST the 50's showed he was a man of integrity and respect. Wish I was able to meet and learn from him back in his prime!

I miss Billy, he was the best.

I am obviously no Billy Robinson or Erik Paulson, but I do have a black belt in judo and purple in BJJ. I have been training judo and bjj religiously for the past seven years at least 4 times, sometimes 6 days, a week. I am also a self-proclaimed 5th dan KZbin black belt having watched 1000's and 1000's of videos, and I consider KZbin my irreplaceable guide in the pursuit of the truth. All I wish to say is that your Catch Wrestling vids have been an eye opener. Thanks for the uploads.

My uncle kit fox knew Mr Robinson and said he and Karl Gotch were two of the toughest in the ring.

First time seeing this video. The moment I saw the old man with the cane and talking deep I was like “Yep he’s in-charge”
@Benbanme12 жыл бұрын
much respect to the old man, still teaching later generations despite his conditions! i hope to be as 1/2 as bad ass as this guy when i'm his age.

John Danaher talks about having good escapes and counters so you’ll have the confidence to attack with your full potential just the same as Billy Robinson did here. I wonder if the mentality Billy Robinson mentioned of causing your opponent on the bottom as much misery as possible is why Catch Wrestling isn’t more popular. Great idea in combat but I’m guessing you’d end up with some miserable training partners that’d be happier learning BJJ.

John Danaher said that pin escapes are the first thing people should learn for grappling because if someone is scared of being stuck on the bottom they won't use their offense. Seems like Billy agreed with that lack of offense theory.

lol, funny you should ask. It's currently in the que for release. If you want the real skinny on the subject you should check out the Double Wrist Lock series with Coach Billy Robinson. But we do have something I think you'll be interested coming up within the next 4 videos. In the mean while if you wouldn't mind subscribing to our channel or better yet picking up a membership to our website, we'd really appreciate the support!

RIP Billy Robinson. A true master. Catch wrestlers are most dangerous apex predators in hand to hand combat on the planet.

Yes. But like with everything, defense first. If they have an arm around your neck, that is not the time to use this technique. The moment you get to your knees say from bottom side cross, during the transition, it's time to stan up.

Big Question here: Will this standup work even when chokes/strangles are legal?
@GokuInfintysaiyan3 жыл бұрын
You’re securing one wrist which mitigates most offensive maneuvers. Even if your opponent tries to initiate an offensive with one arm, the sheer amount of movement would break pretty much any one arm submission attempt. As well, it’s not like you’re just going to blindly perform this technique and just forget everything else you know about grappling.

You are 'That Guy'. We've shown you ours. Now man up and show yours. We'd love to see you post just one fight. Hell we'll settle for a grappling match. Until then... you're the fake poser.

Japanese Jiu Jitsu guys taking catch wrastlin' classes isn't MMA?

@ManifoldSky10 жыл бұрын
td82394 First of all, there is no such thing a "Japanese jiu jistu". The word is only spelled that way be Brazilians, and people who don't know what they're talking about. Second, regardless of what you think about "these guys", fake or not, they are NOT Japanese jujutsu guys. Catch wrestlers, and Billy Robinson in particular, are quite separate from anything Japanese, and are quite vocal in this.

These guys are fake. I don't want to be 'that guy' but from what I gather, these guys don't train in MMA. They are Japanese Jiu Jitsu guys, which, there's nothing wrong with that, but they're making money by getting views and duping people.
