Not bad, but a couple of things I noticed. He goes strait up out of his stance. You should come out and up. Not only does this utilize your legs on the throw but it also shortens your throw by a foot or two. His front elbow was down when making his transfer. It should be up and pointed ant the target. The reason for it being up is you should be pulling it down towards second base giving you even more momentum towards second

good video, but i don't know about having your right foot infront of your left because it dosen't allow you to block real good on inside pitches to right handers. It might just be me, but I don't like doing that.

good video the only thing is, is that you NEVER jump belive it or not it slows you down ALOT you need to softly drag your back foot in an angle just like he jumped. please watch my cathers/3b movements

The only problem I have with this is you need to be looking over your forearm when you throw, look up mike dobre on Google and look at his stats, he's and amazing coach he taught me that from personal experience, useful

That shit about the ear is as wrong as it gets... you do not bring the glove back, you simply turn your glove hand and then take the ball and begin the throw. everything else seems good though

I agree with most of this, but you never want your feet staggered, just in case the pitcher spikes one. Also, don't pop the feet so far forward, that's going to cause alot of catcher's interference calls. A strong throw from the ear is necessary to keep pop times down, although it should be from a lower position. Standing up too high will cause the ball to sail and it will also slow your time down. This comes from a college catcher, and I consistently throw around 1.8, and have touched as low as 1.7. Form is key to the throw, I only throw in the low to mid eighties, and I always am looking for small little form components to work on, which is what brought me here. I'm sorry if I offend anyone's views, but this is what I have found to be tried and true throughout the years.

If you pop the feet too forward and you get an interference call, it should be on the batter because the catcher is trying to make an attempt to throw a guy out at second. I am catcher and i do the same, even though i am only in high school and my pop time is 2.1-2.4 i still throw guys out, even the fat guys.

Not if the batter is swinging and hits the glove or another part of the body, it's a technique that, while useful, can be hard to learn and will spawn these problems.

Totally agree with you, and I'm just a middle school catcher. But I train with a college catcher. So yea, maybe you are trying to say something else Alex, but that's why when runners are stealing, batters will purposely swing to slow you down, see it all the time in travel ball.

Never hop it slows done your throw. You should push off and not have to get power from a step.

That's not an athletic stance, how is he going to block the low and inside pitch? And he's more focused on how he looks then how he actually does it
@hamburglerkosh20495 жыл бұрын
Well if the pitcher and catcher know a runner is going to steal the pitcher would throw a pitchout , therefore the catcher shouldn't be expecting a low and inside pitch
