If someone tags up after a deep ball fly out how do u mark that???
@DelahayN
@DelahayN Ай бұрын
I don’t think you need to mark the actual tag up. Probably just the resulting base/out. So if a fly is caught in deep RF a runner leading off second rags up and runs to third, you would just mark the third base path and write F9 That’s my hunch.

Too many coaches just keep offensive stats for their team? What about defensive and pitching stats for your team? Keep score of both teams and now you have statistical evidence of your full team for the season and post season.😊

What is balk mean ?
@TurtleMarcus
@TurtleMarcus Ай бұрын
A balk is basically when the pitcher tries to "trick" the pitcher or baserunner. When the pitcher makes a step and indicates that he his pitching to the batter, he actually has to do it, or he is punished. If he steps towards the batter, but suddenly turns and tries to pick off the baserunner on 1st, that's a balk. If he steps towards 1st base, signalling a pick off attempt, but then turns and throws a quick pitch to the batter, that's a balk. When a balk happens, all baserunners go up one base.

When Kennedy was caught stealing, Baker would have been up to bat and would not have finished his at-bat. How would you annotate he was at bat but never finished due to the third out caught stealing 2nd?

Great Video! At 7:20 I think Scott Should be given an RBI on the fielders choice. I believe in MLB rules if the fielders choice is a double play, then the hitter would not get an RBI for the run scored.

Pitcher A pitches to Batter 1 who flies out to right field. Batter 2 reaches on base on balls. Batter 3 doubles, Batter 2 reaches third base. Pitcher B relieves Pitcher A. Pitcher B pitches to Batter 3 and the ball reaches the backstop. We’ll call it a passed ball to take Pitcher B out of this scenario. (If it is deemed a wild pitch the impact on earned runs is the same). Batter 2 scores on the passed ball. Batter 3 advances to third on the passed ball. Batter 4 grounds to the pitcher and is thrown out at first, but Batter 2 scores on a fielder’s choice. Batter 5 grounds out to short and the inning is ended. What runs are earned in the above scenario, if any? (Rule 9.16 in the rule book, Earned Runs and Runs Allowed)

Actually, with the pitch clock, now there IS a need to rush when in the position shown at 5:51. The clock runs until the pitcher kicks and moves towards the plate.

Excellent video that thoroughly covers the basics. Crediting which runner scored as a result of an RBI can be tracked more efficiently by replacing RBI hash marks with the batting order number of the runner(s) (not jersey number). In the example above: Bellagamba's (2)RBI home run scored batters #3 & #4... write "3,4" instead of "II". This modification can eliminate confusion, especially when sorting out complex situations. Would love to see how mikescottbaseball handles the dropped third strike both in batter-runner out and batter-runner safe situations.

@TurtleMarcus

If the team bats around, let's say in the 3rd inning, what you do, is this: you go to the 4th column, but cross out the number and write 3rd, and then continue filling in as normal. For the 4th inning, you use the 5th column, so you have to cross out the 5 and write 4, and you do this for every subsequent inning. Most scorecards have at least 10 innings, so it usually works out fine.

You move over to the next column, but you cross out the number. So if you bat around in the 3rd, you go to the 4th column, cross out the number 4 and write 3, and keep going from there. And then you change the number for every subsequent inning. Most scorecards have at least 10 innings, it you usually don't run out of space.
