I think for me it was about the same, but I learned a trick pretty early on in NL to get stag beetles to spawn on the island to make all the money, so golden stag was a lot easier in NL for me. (The trick is to chop down all non-coconut trees to minimize other spawns on the island)

I've found that easiest way to catch whatever you're looking for is to start the game & fish for 2 minutes with bait. Then, if you haven't caught what you want yet, restart the game & try again. It's how I finished the fish portion of my museum. Now if I could only get Redd to sell me the damn statue I need I can finally finish the whole thing!

Yeah, fish aren’t that hard to catch now, especially since the resolution allows you to recognize fish sizes. It also helps that there’s fish bait you can get to fish faster, and better sounds to identify when to reel in the fish. Hell, the only reason cast master is possible is the “go blind and wait for the sound” method.

It's funny cause back in the day catching rare fish in CF and NL seemed almost impossible to me so when I played NH I said to myself "damn they made fishing way easier this time" but recently I came back to NL and it was just as easy as NH, maybe even easier since your fishing rod never breaks, maybe I was just a dumb kid lol

Yeah, I feel you. I’ve been revisiting every game in the series recently, on emulator for GC to CF, but NL and NH are on legit hardware. I figured NL would be problematic when I couldn’t guarantee catches with save states, but that almost never came up; wasn’t long until I just naturally had every big and fish available to me without time travel (missed the giant beetle actually, but Tortimer Island’s perma-summer means I never actually miss it). NL was definitely the start of bug/fish collecting getting way easier.
@isenokami7810 Жыл бұрын
My dumb kid-ness was about play time. I’d always time travel to a particular time of day before starting an AC session, usually whenever Nook’s store opened, so there were a ton of bugs and fish I never caught as a kid because I never let the game be in their active hours. I think kid me just assumed I’d stumble upon them eventually. Jokes on me in GC, the summer evening beetles turned out to be easier money than ocean fishing.

for the original animal crossing, i am pretty sure you have to buy the shovel before the shop has any other tools. the space next to the shovel also gets a tool after you buy it, so that's two tools a day!
@mrziggyzaggy1139 ай бұрын
so from what i reasearched how tools acfually work in animal crossing game cube is this. you get shovel first, then you have a hidden value called sell value or nook points or whatever that you cant see. you need 3,000 to unlock the net and see it in shop, and 8,000 to see fishing rod. basically you get this hidden value up by spending bells at nooks. if you buy things from nook equal to 8,000 bells, that hidden value will go up to 8,000 and youll unlock the fishing rod in the shop the next days. however if you sell things to nook you only get half of the sell prive added to the hidden points system to unlocking new tools

I was the first one between myself and my best friend to catch a coelacanth in Wild World, despite the fact that she had the game for way longer than me. We were having a sleepover and catching full pockets of as many rare fish as we could (I would swap fish for rarer ones before sale, but she would sell every fish she caught bc "every fish is worth bells") and would keep turning the clock back a few hours when Nook's closed so we could keep selling. It started raining and I caught the elusive coelacanth, and in the excitement, my friend launched herself into the air and landed heavily on the bed we were lounging on. The game froze while I was still in her town. All of our progress was lost. My coelacanth was gone. She couldn't stop laughing and I was DEVASTATED. Joke's on her because I caught two in a row on the way home in the car, a five minute drive.

Just “things are good, but with just a little push they could be better.” Wild World would be fun too, mainly coming off your misconceptions video. I commented about this there too: the thing you confirmed about specific spots where trees will grow, while neat for being able to plant a new tree where an old one was, is HUGE for going for perfect town status. I remember growing up playing wild world at like my sisters sports events and stuff on my ds and whenever there was a finned fish or potential for a rare fish I would have to buckle down and focus extra hard on the game, I would still miss the timing about 40% of the time. In the past year I've since got ACNH and within the first two days before my museum was even built i had caught like 9 whale sharks, a great white, oarfish, swordfish and finished nearly half the fish museum within that time. It is significantly easier than it was, not that that's an issue, though I do wish there was something I could toggle to make fishing a challenge again.

I have been binge watching your videos and oh my what a nostalgy trip. I had completely forgotten he used to give us an uniform even, once I accidently changed and little me got so scared when he yelled at me 😶

i dont quite remember the requirements for unlocking it in the various games but i'd be interested in seeing a "how quickly can i get nookingtons in [whichever game is best suited to this sort of thing]" challenge. it was always a rly big deal for me unlocking nookingtons as a kid and id love to see someone try & speedrun it if that's even possible lol

I miss the old games because they were more sassy & said more slick stuff lol

I got 1 first try today! After doing a marathon of your videos, specifically the complete museum ones, I decided to tack a crack at completing mine. I just started yesterday. I was planning on just villager hunting, but noticed it was raining and decided to just give it a try when I saw a large shadow. First try baby!!

Here's a long challenge I actually haven't seen yet: Completing the museum in EVERY animal crossing game.

id LOVE to see how far off the edge you can push resetti… i got him to a point in wild world where he would lecture me from anywhere from 1-5 minutes and forced me to repeat phrases like “im a little piggy!” by typing them in LMAO. id pay to see you derail that wonderful little mole man. great content as always, sir dagnel

I did that all the time as a kid! Eventually he'll start repeating himself after 6-7 resets I've found

You made me remember Leigh existed. We need all the old villagers back :(

this is my first video i’ve seen of yours and after watching i binged your other AC speed runs/challenges and your channel is super cool. also a random thing i kept thinking of when watching some of your other videos : you will always have a 1 star island until you get (i think) at least 7 villagers. so you can have a 3 star worthy island but it will register as 1 star until you have enough villagers

Thank you!

It's weird. City Folk was my first AC game when i was like 6, then Wild World at 8, then New Horizons when I was 18. The new horizons Coelacanth is how the city folk one looks in my head, but looking back its much lower quality. I remember it looking the same

I remember catching more difficult fish in new horizons was nearly IMPOSSIBLE for me, to the point that I wondered how even relying on sound I'd apparently lost any semblance of reaction time I used to have and then I stopped playing docked, and suddenly I catch nearly every fish I come near based on sound alone. I don't know if my joycons are busted as hell but it's wild how much of a difference it made
