In 1984, whilst wading out to surf. I stepped on a stingray. He folded his wings upwards and at the same time the tail wrapped around my ankle. THEN he stabbed me with the barb!! He actually held onto me!!! I jumped up and he let go. Blood went everywhere. I went to the life guard stand and the said to go to the ER. They put in 9 stitches. 2 weeks later, my gf popped me with a wet towel. Right on the bandage! A black liquid started leaking out. I went to a different ER. Under the bandage the flesh was green and black! Gangrene! The flesh around the wound had died. After the the dead meat was picked away, the Dr. found the barb! About a half inch long. The previous Dr. had sewn my leg closed with that thing still in there! I ended up needing plastic surgery and a skin graft. The skin graft fell off and I just had a crater of raw meat. It took a lot of debreeding to get it to heal. Now in 2021 it's just a big pink spot, About thumb sized/shaped. Wow!

When he sticks his fingers in the mouth of these (clearly dead) fish I just can’t help the small flare of fear it’ll come back to life and he’ll lose a finger

@@austintrimble6119 Yes they do, it’s like a giant vice pretty much to crush hard shells of crustaceans. That’s why if you get bit you’re gonna break or lose a finger.

I heard that stingray is suppose to be cooked with a lot of herbs so that’s prob why it was pretty flavourless

A common way of eating stingray in singapore is grill it. usually it will be topped with sambal chill and makes a great meal that goes with rice. if not just the grill stingray is delicious and fatty

あのとき刺されたみょうがです。 エイの毒針ですが、熱湯のおかげでかなり無毒化されていました。 とは言え少し毒が残っており、私のピリリとした味に磨きがかかったように思います。

Here in Singapore we barbeque stingray with a chili paste called sambal, and it's definitely one of my favorite dishes.

Bones at the fin area is soft and somewhat cartilaginous when grilled, very tasty to eat together with bone and skin altogether

Smoked stingray is the best, lots of things can be added. Yellow soup, spicy sauce, green sambal with anchovy (confused why put more fish with a fish).

The way the flesh just looks like it was ground is amazing. I fell down a rabbit hole last week when KZbin recommended a fish full of faeces and I haven’t looked back. Masaru is very entertaining and I think I know how to break down a fish 😂

I'd be spooked to do this myself, and personally wouldn't want to eat a stingray but it's so interesting to see fish like this get dissected as you tell us how they feel with sounds and close ups. Really satiates the curiosity.

Stingray dish is popular in Indonesia, in Semarang region. The stingray is smoked, then cooked with coconut milk, spices & chili, it is known as mangut ikan pe (stingray mangut). This is a delicacy that has a distinctive taste of smoked fish 😊

@@hiiragy Omg, you should try Stingray Assam Pedas (spicy tamarind) recipe. It's really good, if you can handle the spice that is.

@LIQUID FX If you ever get the chance to travel, come to Malaysia (or any other country that has stingray as a dish) and try it. Here we cook the fins on the bone and its super tender and delicious. It can be prepared in a variety of ways but the best ones are still the ones with a spicy bite to it.

I have this core memory of when I was 6 or so, and my dad went out fishing and caught a stingray. When he brought it home, my mum did all the gutting and filleting and I will honestly never forget my mum literally screaming at the organs! She kept saying they looked so human like and the sheer size of the stingray was just freaking her out. So this was a nice video to watch and know exactly what my mum was going through 🤣🤣🤣

相変わらずキレイな海! 2年程前に地元の海で赤エイに刺されました。 手が腫れて、ドクンドクンって感じでまあ痛かったです。 間違って刺されたときはお湯に患部をつけて毒を壊すと早く治ります。 これから夏に向けて、マサルさんも皆様もお気をつけください。

エイはアカエイが1番美味しいらしいよ。 アカエイは煮付けにして食べたけど 美味しかったよ。 今度は是非鍋にして食べてみたい。

肝臓の一部が緑色なのは緑肝症と言われるタウリン欠乏症の症状かもしれないですね、 海水魚はメチオニンからタウリンを合成するために必要なCSDの活性が弱いので養殖魚などで見られる症状ですけど、天然魚でもなるんですかねぇ

東方常敏 恐らくそうであるって論文を昔見た気がします!もしかしたらビリルビン(黄色)の色も出てるかもしれないですけど、ビリベルジンの色の方が目立ってでると思います。あんまり緑肝症自体を専門にしてたわけじゃないので自信はないのですが😓

エイの上のゴツゴツした皮は結構な値段で取引されるんですよ 日本刀の柄の部分などに使ったりします 一部ポッチの大きい部分があるとおもんですが、それが大きいほど高値です

Stingray is very popular in Malaysia and I recommend 'ikan pari asam pedas lada hitam', basically it's like spicy chilli gravy with some okra in it and eat it with white rice 😍 disclaimer this dish is quite spicy :D

Hi! Have you ever heard of (translation from french) "Stingray wings with capres" ? Actually ray is first cooked in water, then served with a bitter/acid/salted sauce made of butter, lemon juice and capers. It's a traditional recipe in meridional europe. BTW, salted plums seems really good, now I want to try it your way ! (I discovered your channel yesterday and I can't stop watching you ! Thanks for beeing there ! ;) Regards

you should try it prepared in an indian curry!! in south india, we use coconut milk and a bunch of flavourful spices, so it’s very well seasoned and it tastes really good!

I love stingrays..in Malaysia we call it "ikan pari" and would make it into a dish called "asam pedas"..there r plenty of channels sharing asam pedas recipes on youtube..or you can grill it too..slather with sambal, wrap with banana leaf n grill..and unless you r making sashimi, you should just cut the flesh together with the bones into pieces..when its cooked the meat will easily peel off from the bones..and the skin is pretty much edible and soft once its cooked..unless if its the species with the hard skin type.

in my country, people sell it as a smoked-fish. my mom usually cooks it as a kind of soup that has soury flavour on it. it's pretty delicious and we usually eat the skin too.
