A session fishing on the river severn for barbel. With conditions low and clear i go over my rig for catching barbel in low and clear conditions. What line and hooks i use for barbel and how i feed the swim to try and catch barbel in these conditions on the middle river severn.

Another great video mate, and lovely to see you fishing in my locality and finding fish in not perfect conditions. Barbel fishing is certainly exciting stuff but not quite the same as watching that big Pike float suddenly twitching and sliding away 😍

Really enjoyed tonight’s blog Danny as I do most of my Barbel fishing in that area between Bridgnorth and Hampton Load. Great angling to get a nine pounder in low clear conditions. I have learned that I don’t feed the swims as much as you do with hemp, something I will rectify in future
@DannysAnglingBlog

We will never know if its the reason or not mate but I'm a great fan of hemp in all my fishing and its a bait I have confidence in for sure and I guess thats as much as we can hope for in that we believe it makes a difference. As I say in video there's that many fish in Severn I don't think you can put too much in

one thing i wish i did more with barbel is have the confidence to move i do fish a but like set out my stall and wait for them come to me, the hemp is deffo part of the reason i think had some bites in daytime this year i was even thinking of micro pellets mixed in but when tested it it really did stodge the hemp up

Another great blog Danny and barbel fishing is very addictive. Any reason you don’t use a baitdropper for your loose feed? I find you get a tighter area of feed so you know better where the fish will be feeding
@DannysAnglingBlog
@DannysAnglingBlog 4 жыл бұрын
i do use bait dropper when on smaller rivers but on likes of severn, ribble and dee ilike to spread the bait why i dont always use a drennan catapult as it does seem put it in a small pile. i like to spread the bait say over and area as feel i am then drawing fish from say inside line and mid river rather than just on the inside line if get me.

Hi Danny, Only just found you and I'm loving catching up on your work. I'm off to the middle Severn at the end of the month so really looking forward to putting some of your barbel guidance into practice. I've seen a few other videos saying a hair needs to be long to catch a barbel over chub due to the way they feed but yours seem quite short using a band and you seem to get both no problem. Why do you think that is? Could it be because your hair sits high on the bend of the hook? Great videos, thanks for taking the time and sharing, Steve
@waltwombwell7625
@waltwombwell7625 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Danny, love the videos and your enthusiasm. I’ve just started river fishing again and watching other barbel fishing videos most have long hair rigs, with you using a banded pellet rig would you say it’s a better rig or does it depend on the situation?
@DannysAnglingBlog
@DannysAnglingBlog 4 жыл бұрын
i wouldnt know if its better mate as thats just the way i do it. if i am using a dumbell or boilie i still keep my hairs tight to the hook as well. the reason for this is for the chub, i dont mind catching chub or orach as you can see on vlog but i think the reasoning behind the longer hair is so lads dont catch chub they pick at bait but dont get hooked so bait is then left for the barbel and you dont spook swim if get me. i would think if asked lads why a longer haior that would be reasoning for it walt. tight lines and hope you enjoy the rivers

Dannys Angling Blog. Cheers Danny, I’ll try the shorter hair as I’ve only caught a couple of bream and had a lot of knocks so I think the fish are there. Like you I don’t mind catching any species.👍

Great video. How do you get on with the drennan supplex Danny? I had 10lb that I thought snapped too easy, but I have had doubles on it aswell. I;ve now upped it to 12lb, which doesn;t feel as supple, but obviously stronger
@DannysAnglingBlog
@DannysAnglingBlog 4 жыл бұрын
i like it mate, its a line i have confidence in for sure but i am going to start experimenting wit some of the other lines you see in the box in this video ini coming weeks on one of the rods. i did buy some other fleurocarbon this week form another company and it was certainly more rigid than the supplex so i guess thats why it has the edge in the feuro carbon line world. tight lines mate
@warbob2430
@warbob2430 4 жыл бұрын
@@DannysAnglingBlog i idn't use the fluro version, Danny, i used the mono. I just find it's not very abrasive resistant. I was also surprised that when I did a test in my garage, the 10lb mono line snapped at about 7lbs. The 12lb drennan mono snapped at 11lbs. This is not taken in abrasive situations that you could see in the river that would lower the breaking strain.

Fantastic fish care as always Danny. Great content too. Quick question, I see that you attach a bait band to your hair rig. Is this better than fishing a drilled pellet on a hair with a bait stop? Also, how do you attach the bait band to the hair? Always learning and would appreciate your advice mate.

Cheers mate glad enjoy vlog, really your question I find it easier as it keeps pellet close to hook regardless if using 6mm or.12mm pellet.if get me. Rather than typing I will record a piece for a future barbel vlog where I will tie rig mate be easier than typing.
