The creatures you saw in the water are sooty sea hare. They similar to a slug they cannot sting or bite you but do secrete a purple ink when they feel threatened.

3:11 Aplysia fasciata, common name the "mottled sea hare." A sea slug of sorts. They can get a lot bigger. They are molluscs/gastropods and usually only found off the French and African coasts (and the British Isles).

When I was stationed in Puerto Rico back in the early 70s, our rule of thumb for barracuda (to avoid ciguatera) was to only eat fish under three feet. Back in those days, ciguatera was called ithio-toxcism (fish poisoning), but it is the same thing.

Yall should invest in a tower garden. Hydroponic grow tower with 20 slots(you can expand to 32, or add on a micro greens attachment) Proprietary liquid nutrients while annoying and kind of expensive, is liquid gold. Grow all of my bearded dragons veggies, all sorts of tomatoes, green onion, chives, strawberries, citronella for skeeters. Attempting to grow hemp for the first time this year to make my own ropes. It's fun, and cool to teach my kiddos how to grow some of their own food, saving hundreds and preventing SOOOO much wasted produce that rot just days after leaving the supermarkets
