here what i do i use couple zip ties and latch the opening shut. so when you go out and the zipties are cut you know someone been around your spot. works every time!

Grant, I did that once, then I realized it is probably illegal because it stops the escape mechanism from working if it's lost. We were in Biloxi but we had to leave early because the hurricane was heading to the Big Bend where we have a trailer. It did hit our area, we still don't have electricity and it was a big mess. you guys are amazingly hard-core when it comes to catching crabs! Oh we did it the easy way last weekend and had some crabs and crabcakes shipped to us on dry ice Last weekend. They were great but probably not as good as yours. I’m going to have to try making some crabcakes with Joyce’s recipe next time. I have to agree with you on the meat in the crabs. I caught 6 big ones in my cast net on Saturday. They were loaded with meat and delicious 😋 😊. Love your video and please don't stay out in the heat to long.

I usually prefer the flavor of whole cooked fresh crabs but the mess is rough! Cleaned crabs still taste fantastic and are so much easier to eat or pick. I thought that the fish coming up for the discarded bait was pretty cool. ❤

The heat doesn't seem to bother the crabs. We caught quite a few in Mississippi in some fairly shallow water, it was in the high 90's and they were very lively. Thanks for Watching

Other than the “R” on the float, and your info tag on the trap, how do you know your white float from others? Do you put a number on the float?

We just know where we set our traps, our R is burned in the buoys most people paint theirs. If someone accidentally pulls our trap they know it's not theirs. Thanks for Watching

Hard to say, the texture of the meat is a little softer when you cook them whole but they're less messy to eat when you clean them first. We like them both ways. Thanks for Watching

If they were on ice and they were dead for only an hour they're probably ok, we've eaten them with no problem but most of the time we use the dead ones for bait. After a crab dies bacteria starts getting into the meat.
