Catching Bronze Whaler (Bronzie) and beaten by winter fishing.

On this episode, we cover a previous session where we caught a Bronze Whaler, also known as the bronzie shark in South African waters.
On this day marking 1 May 2024, we set out on an early morning session in the Vleesbay area. Upon arrival we realized, this was a beautiful day, and the water appears to be in a perfect condition to target some sharks.
We meaning my Brother in law, Gerhard, and Larrie from ZA Coastal Fishing made a couple of casts and unfortunately, we were about to have another blank session as we've been there for 7 hours + and not having a single story to share. As we were about to give up, the guys shouted at me screaming "YOUR ROD, YOUR ROD" sure as hell, there we were reeling in a Bronze Whaler female shark who has won a fight prior to this day as there was a broken hook in her mouth. This was my first decent Bronzie and the emotion upon releasing the fish was bazar.
In this episode we cover a fishing session taking place on Bay View beach in Hartenbos, however seeing that this may very well turn into a blank, we decided this is the perfect opportunity to share the footage of the Bronzie fight prior to this day.
Also, want to state it clearly, and thank Larrie, Gerhard, and my Brother Jan for not only making this a day full of great memories, but, also in assisting the safe landing of the fish, and making sure I have some video footage to work with and be able to share with you. It pains me to say, that in the hype of the moment after the math, I realized no body took footage, pictures or videos, of me physically releasing the fish. This is actually crucial for a fishing channel as it ensures the audience that this was done, not only quick, but also efficiently. I assure you, that after the female bronzie posed for a couple of pictures, she was released in under 5 minutes, She was safely dragged back into the water by no body but myself, just behind the breakers I turned her facing the ocean side and gave her a tap to let her go, as I released her she very calmly started swimming off back into her natural habitat, and I wish this was captured as you could see the absolute AWE in my face as I popped a tear thinking in my mind, Predator vs. Predator, and its an honor as a Human (Apex Predator) having the opportunity to fight this fish, and then showing kindness of releasing it back into the water.
This marks one of my best adventures yet, and I am happy to share it with the world.
