Great video! Here is a tip from VA. Take newspaper and spread it out on the table about 4 or 5 layers thick. It protects the table from hammering and you just wad it all up and throw it away. Crabs are awesome to eat!!

Nice vid! Catching crab is a lot easier with a stick to hold them down when they face you with the pincers/claws. It is even easier with a flash light, their eyes are super sensitive so when you direct the lights at them use your ofd hand to pick them up by the shell. Love me some land crab meat!🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

Mom tip 101: pickup a bunch of plastic table cloths at Dollar Tree. Super easy to clean up anything kid or mess related. When done, pull the four corners together and toss it all in the garbage. Don’t waste your paper towels covering an entire table bc it’s pricey and stuff seeps thru, leaving a mess behind (I have two boys 😜)

Hey Kelly When using a scotch bonnet pepper if your don’t want you food to be spicy and you only want the flavor never time don’t cut the pepper just put in it whole. Once you cut the pepper you expose the seeds you expose the heat. The real heat is in the seeds.

Well done. I catch them in Antigua and barehanded at that. Can't tell the last time I ever got bit by one of them. We purge them for a week at least then eat the mustard inside the back/head when you pull it off. Great eating that's for sure. Some people eat them with fungi or polenta as the Italians call it. But I think that's a waste of stomach space lol Now I am back in the US. Thanks again for another entertaining video Kelly. Looking forward to yours and Gabe's next vids

Basically all crabs are similar and as an Alaskan, we grab crabs by hand all the time. If you grab the crabs from behind, like by the ass-end, they cannot pinch you. 3-4 fingers on the bottom, your thumb on top, or vice versa. Once you get them like that, you can encircle all their claws from behind with one hand grasping them, do the same with the other hand, and then smack the bottom of their shell on a rail, or edge of the counter, and rip all the claws off at once! This makes cleaning dungeness crabs a breeze! At the 6:13 mark you actually had the one crab perfectly handled the way I described above!
@ph00z003 жыл бұрын
Wow, Kelly really showed how much of a bad-ass she is in this one; especially when she takes that leap onto the big crab and it instantly pliers onto her.

Well done... well except for one thing, most of us in the Caribbean clean the crab really good first with scrub brushes, then boil them up with your preferred spices. When done they are ready to serve straight out of the pot. The lower Islands (Trinidad, Barbados etc..) prefer to curry the crab and it is awesome!!
@bruceparker61423 жыл бұрын

RUBBER BANDS Kelly Young... In Trinidad, these are called " buck crabs" very delicious. When you catch them, you need leather gloves. Put the rubber bands around their pincher. That will way you will be able to clean them. No need to boil or steam them. Just pull their backs off. With a brush, scrub them down. Like you said, they are mud or mangrove crabs. They are delicious when cooked in curry or in a a special bush called " dasheen bush " or tarro leaves. I'd love to cook them for you. Blessings, Kelly Young & Blu Gabe & the boys.

Hello Miss Young. Great job catching those mangrove blue crabs 👍🏻. A technique that I used back in the day was, when you see the crab in the entrance to the cave, take a machete and calculate about ten inches behind the crab and jab the machete straight down behind the crab, that way preventing it from going back to far in the hole. Then is just a matter of using what ever technique you use to retrieve it. Good hunting Kid.
