I'm 65, so the story is at least that old! My oldest brother and dad was fish, and boats with passing like that one did! Was not really having a good day. And was reeling in like you was. But they got to where they were casting right behind the passing boats! And started catching fish! This was on the Texas coast around Freeport Texas! And obviously this was a story told by my brother and dad! My dad and brother have both gone to a better place! I'm sure that they are fishing everyday, having to dodge my mom's hook when she casting! Y'all stay safe!

You just did something that made me smile. You took us along on your trip to the Keys. We always wanted to go there, especially since we moved to Spring Hill to take care of my Dad 11 years ago. He wasn't expected to live more than a year or two because of his heart, but he just turned 97. My health worsened so much, less than a year after we moved down here, that I've been housebound & recliner/bedbound ever since. I must greatly pace myself or my ME/CFS crashes badly.....so I can't travel. But getting to see you all doing what Mike and I would want to be doing in the Keys was awesome. I'm so happy for all of you. My best advice from this old lady (me) is to "make as many great memories with your family as you can. Tomorrow is never promised, and if tomorrow does come, it may be a whole lot tougher than you could ever imagine." Time spent with family is priceless. Because we had to move down here for Dad (his heart can't take CT winters), we seldom get to see our kids and there families. It's heartbreaking. Keep on making those great memories together! I live in FL. On Big Pine Key and Sugarloaf Key our Key Deer are a unique species of deer and the smallest of all North American deer. They are heavily protected and considered endangered with only about 700-800 in total numbers across a few key islands. Our Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) strongly discourages tourists from having contact and feeding the Key Deer due to this leading to the lack of fear of humans and this also leads to our deer being injured or killed by passing vehicles. I hope you all enjoyed our great state and had a wonderful time visiting. Great video!

You may not know this, Sharpspur, but I thought I'd ask....do those deer swim to the different islands? I know I've seen the whitetail in our neck of the woods, swimming short distances when necessary. Just curious...they are indeed, very cute little critters.

Yeah! That's what we call 'trolling'. Throwing while you're rolling. Mahi Mahi is a nice tasting fish. Nice to grill too. I'm afraid when I see Houston in that big water without a jacket. He's brave!

Next time you are in south Florida go out to holiday park in the everglades. You can go on an airboat and fish in the true everglades. Not what they call the everglades in the keys. I grew up off of SR 84 west of Ft. Lauderdale out by the everglades.

The keys are beautiful especially the snorkeling and stuff. Congrats to Houston for his Mahi. I have been here 39 years and have never caught 1 but I do mostly inshore tarpon red snook snapper lol

Oh Daniel, you do have an awesome wife with perfect planning skills. Obviously you had a very memorable 40th Birthday. Such memories. About 4 yrs ago I took my sister, niece and 2 great nephews ages 10 and 8 to Florida. All of us went deep sea fishing. All of us but the 8 yr old got sea sick. Despite that we did have an awesome time. Love to all❤️

I haven't been to the Keys in years. Go into Key West and do some shopping. There is a sandle shop called Kinos. The best homemade leather sandals you will ever get.

We lived in Key West for about 7 years when I was a kid. My Aunt absolutely LOVED Kino's sandals! Key West Handprints was big too! My Mom had dresses in their fabric.

Growing up in south Florida. In the 7th grade we went to Sea Camp instead of regular camp. It was in Big Pine Key. We did ocean stuff during the day and went out to see the Key Deer at night.

Years ago we were in Marathon and chartered a boat. We caught a bunch of Maihe Maihe and a local restaurant cooked it up. OMG it was delicious and we are not fish eaters!! Love your family and videos.

I love the keys it's been years since I've been down there but I used to live in Deerfield Beach FL before I moved to Georgia and there you got the pier and the beach so you guys can go fishing off the pier and about 5 miles down on A1A you got the Hillsboro inlet and they got the drift fishing boats you're pretty cool. Laughter is nice i'm 70 and i'm about to go back down there and maybe retire totally down there

I got a kick out of watching Houston set that hook like a two bass fisherman😂. Me and my family just got back from Florida last week, and I'll tell you what, being from ohio, it's hard to break the habit of setting that hook! By the end of the week I got the hang of it, but the first few days I was trying to rip the lips off everything I caught🤷‍♂️

You *could* have caught yourself some square grouper, lol. Glad you made it to the Southernmost parts. Friends are there now diving for bugs (lobsters). Those little Key Deer are protected and disappearing fast from habitat encroachment and the pythons.

Houston, I tend to get seasick, too. A trick that I learned is don’t look down at the water. Find something on the horizon and don’t concentrate on the close movement of the of the boat. Also, stay out of the cabin as much as possible.

My daddy was a commercial fisherman and fished in the keys when the mullet fishing was off season. He mainly fished for Pompano.

Went 2 years ago this past week. Loved it. Stayed in Marathon, Fl. 3 hr. Boat trip around. 7 Mile Bridge is cool. Grandkids got out & swam. Manatee are Beautiful. My favorite animal. Kids Kayaked like crazy. And I loved the Eguanias. They were plentiful. They were in the trees right by my Air BnB window. Loved watching them. The shops & the food. My 60th birthday & granddaughters 8th. (5th of Aug). First flight ever. Scary, but I did it. Great time. 🤗🤗❣️❣️..

Florida fishing 🎣 is very different compared to Minnesota Range. I lived in Duluth Mn ,and we would go to Canada 🇨🇦 portage back in remote areas where Trappers were evident years before. 🏕️ The best tasting fish was Walleye, plus caught large Northern fish in the remote lakes. The water is crystal clear ,because no one camped in places we did as we cleared areas for our tents ⛺️ ⛺️
