Those were some nice bream and red breast. Awesome time of making memories with your dad and daughter. I would have had to try dragging the bottom to get that pole back. The first year I was married my wife gave me a really nice baitcasting reel for Christmas. I took it with me to SC when we came down there to have Christmas with her family in Orangeburg. My brother in law and I went to Santee to try our luck ( it was about 70 deg that day) . We were trolling acrossing the lake right out in the middle just east of the I-95 bridge and I went to make a cast ." Snap "my rod broke right under the reel seat , Ker-splash there went my brand new reel. I made a mental note as to where it landed not too far from a stump that is out there in the lake. My brother in law was using a cane pole and worms and the only other pole in the boat was my little nieces Barbie pole that is about 18" long lol. I rigged up a treble hook and a heavy weight so I could cast it and started dragging the bottom . I tried for about 45 minutes until my brother in law said we had to leave because it was getting dark and his boat lights didn't work. I made one last cast and bingo I snagged the rod and got my new reel back :-) Praise The Lord . My wife would have killed me . This was in about 1978 or 79 and that reel was over $60 ( a lot of $$$ to us back then) .

Had a favorite bass rod I had for years, went to SC pier fishing for the first time EVER . lost it to a black tip shark who ripped it off the rail so fast and had it sailed 20 yards in the air before it splashed into the ocean .... learned something that day for sure!

My husband and I really enjoy your channel. I have two questions. What size of alumn boat is it that you have? We are in the market for a new one and have a tight budget . Currently we have a Carolina skiff 218. It’s new and We are afraid to take it into the swamps. Where was it that you caught them monsters? Santee?? It seem like an open area to take the skiff. Greetings to family.
