Thanks a lot...They easy to make and when you find a creek where leach's are you will never have to buy them again...Some creeks don't have them...Look for weeds and muck and you will be fore sure to catch some, good luck...I found 2 spots this summer on accident when I caught a few in my minnows traps...Now I can catch up to 50-70 at a time when I go there with 2 traps I made...the coffee cans work the best I have found out...Take care, Gonzo...

Interesting stuff. Up until you posted the first part of this vid I had never heard of anyone trapping leaches. Always cool to see what folks are doing in different parts of the country.

I like when someone show the other people some tricks and tips to make old school, DIY things that cost nothing and help make a living in the wilderness: let's pretend you have to survive without money and most importantly you have to feed your family; those fish you can catch using leeches are some of the very best freshwater fish to eat!

Thanks a lot...I only use the liver 1 time because after the soak most of the blood is out of it.I don't ever leave the traps in more than a day, usually the day before or the day I am going to use the leach's.You can only use minnows in a tributary to the lake or river you are going to fish with them so I treat the leach's just as if I were using minnows and there regulations. The pond I catch the leach's out of ends up turning into a creek that runs into Lake Gogebic, that's where I use mine.

Leeches work great in the spring, summer, and early fall, but there comes a time in late fall that the fish just don't want them anymore...i think it's when they spawn, and they produce a taste or scent that fish find distasteful...just something i know..nice video Heith.!!

You won't you just have to set some traps and find out...I'm a believer that every pond has leachs at least all the ponds around here I trap do...Some more than others...I just found a pond I was minnow trapping the other day had leachs in it, I ended up having 2 in my trap so I'm going to try that pond now and it's not far from my house...Thanks for watching...

I know this is an old video but I've been looking trying to find out where I can find these myself. I live in ohio. Are they common is most still bodies of water? Creeks? I havent been able to locate any nor do I know where to begin to look. Bait shops are expensive here for them almost 10$+ a dozen is common. They call them "mud leeches" around here
