Catching Magpie Call Bird

how do the birds go in when you cover the hole with grass?

It was only the center compartment that was covered with grass, this is where the "call bird" is kept, in this instance I didn't have a call bird yet so I placed the dummy eggs and nest in there to get the magpies to go in the one of the 4 side entrances that operate on a vertical sliding door which is operated by a treadle mechanism.... the grass as stated was just to block their view from the top of the trap so that they would not bounce around on top and cause the vertical operating doors to close
