Catching on Bread punch on the canal

This time of year after a few colder night`s ,there`s nothing I like more than a bit of bread punch fishing on the canal. So I headed down to my local canal for a short session, to show you how I go about putting a decent weight together just using bread.

Hi George and thanks for watching, I normally us size 20s or 18s on a 0.8 line. There are times when I’d use a size 16 with a larger disc of bread mate.

Hello Keith, always good to watch your videos. On a recent video you had a Drennan Vertex method feeder rod set up. Quick question was it the 10 ft rod and if so what is your opinion of the rod. Mainly F1 s and carp , the carp go from 3 lb up to low double. Appreciate your thoughts on the rod .Thanks , keep up the videos and keep catching.

Hi Wendy and thank you for watching,I have the 11ft vertex method and also the 11ft vertex carp,both are excellent for the venues I fish and I’ve easily landed carp up to 16lb on them both. The method rod is a bit firmer than the carp one,but they both have a great through action when playing carp. The reason I chose the 11ft rods is because of the type of venues I fish like Hallcroft where I can have a cast of 45 mtrs, If I was only fishing canal type venues which are a maximum of 20 mtrs I’d use a 10ft rod.
