Sup Noah. We do about a dozen times a year in RI. A double up can be a Chinese fire drill lol. We walk out at low tide and cast, then walk back and put in holders. Around our poles we use hand garden rake and get clams, grab crabs and find bait too. Fun and good eats👍

The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

Cool to see you at Tybee! I caught a few in the river mouth there with some shrimp. A few suggestions: get a cart/cooler with wheels to store bait and have a cutting surface. Add some rod holders so you aren’t putting your reels in the sand, with messes up the gearing. Don’t be afraid to ask locals and at bait shops. Have fun and avoid the windsurfers! As a side note, when fishing with circle hooks, don’t set the hook. Reel down until you feel pressure, and then fight the fish. A channel named Catfish and Carp did a detailed video on circle hooks.

We fillet the bait fish and put that on the hook when surf fishing. Also use weights with the prongs that help hold it in the current and fold away when you set the hook or reel in hard

Saltwater is a blast my guy. I'm in the northeast so it's all about Striped Bass but I travel down to Venice LA year for reds. I love largemouth fishing too, but when you hook into a good fish in the saltwater it's just another level

Im definitely a bass fisherman but I do enjoy surf fishing everyonce in a while! The last time I went I ended up catching a 180lb blue shark! That drone footage of catching those fish was amazing! You should definitely do this again...

How I go surf fishing is I use frozen shrimp, it will catch you up to a 2 foot fish, also if you want to catch Spanish macroll go to Florida and either use frozen squid or a 3 quarters of an ounce silver spoon. Trust me it works.

When your casting, lock the reel right before your bait hits the water and it will be a quieter drop when it hits the water so you don't scared the fish.
