Quick how to catching Tilapia in the Gooseponds, Mackay. Fishing with my kids and teaching them the ropes of fishing. If you got kids and want to get them out of the house then try this, its cheap, easy fun and the kids will beg you to take them fishing after catching a few of these!

No worries stingray, we caught the 2 big ones after you left. I did an Andy’s fishing forage for bait and found worms down near the bridge, dug some up and came back and slayed em 🤣

IzZy EpiC yeah as much as we’d love to take them lure fishing, they get a lot more enjoyment and experience bait fishing, there’s a lot of valuable skills they learn doing things like this! Leo is begging to go catch flattys on lures next so we’ll see how that goes! Glad I’ve inspired you with this clip as I think it’s really cool to see kids getting involved and out fishing!

Pretty sure those same species are in lake Barrine outside Cairns, apparently a good table fish if caught from clean waters.

Just use something light, like 10lb or less mainline. Worms I’ve found are the best bait and warmer months there seems to be more fish close to the edges..

Nah still plenty in there mate, the baby tilapia provide a good source of food for the juvenile barra..

Apparently they are pretty good fish to eat. Over in the us it’s the most or one consumed fish.

Anywhere between the holts rd bridge up to windmill is where I usually go, there’s heaps of big ones in the pond near the Amart complex there also. I just walk until I see them and let the kids at em 😆

I was at kitchant dam and got 3 cat fish and 2 rainbow fish an 1 barramundi
