Great Video! We have the same bite going year round on the Columbia River here in British Columbia. It's awesome!!! I hooked 6 in a row two nights ago, and went 12 for 13 in just over an hour. Water temp is 5.1°C and they're still chomping.

Tom you and Mitchell rock! Seem like down to earth guy's that you would like to fish with then hang out and have some beers with. I'm happy for Mitchell that he's catching more fish this time and doesn't seem as bummed. Great explanation as always. Great content and never netted a second fish while netting the one your catching that was cool.

Great content as usual. We catch a LOT of walleye here in Ky, during our shad spawn, on top water. When you get on a shallow water bite like that again, cast a chrome/blue-back Cotton Cordel Red Fin at 'em. Jointed Thundersticks work well too. The strikes are vicious! You gotta try it ... 😉

We are in the middle of the same topwater walleye bite here in Northeast TN too. My favorite time of the year.

Topwater nocturnal WAL fans, try this variation: Using an EWG hook, TX-rig a Zman Razor Shad (4"), but hang a light wire DOUBLE hook from the large shank, bracketed between two little closed-cell, craft foam discs (just use a paper hole punch tool). i make my own double hooks, binding two fine-wire, straight-eye, micro-barbed fly hooks with mono. You want to almost, but not quite, offset the Elastec material's buoyancy, ok? Idk about the skinny water WAL where you fish, but mine are usually hyper spooky - even with a ripple on the surface, and even when there's no illumination involved. So, casting TO them is too often counter-productive. But leading (casting well ahead and beyond) them, mitigates very effectively for their skittishness. i find that letting THEM detect a simple twitch or two of the lure (TOWARDS which an aggressive player will then zoom several feet!) is hands down more effective, than is having a hard plastic bait (which wholly depends on making headway for its action) vectoring in towards 'fishie' instead, ok? The other nice attributes of this presentation option? Espesh if shore-bound? Other shapes work too, but in the Razor Shad's configuration (being essentially articulated), the material works itself. May as well be a live bait that won't die! You never snag on the shallow rubble bottom. The fish odten hook themselves, and then they stay pinned - every time! Even if you don't hear or feel a take (and odds are it'll be both), they'll hold on to it until you DO clue in! It's really not needed, but for extra psychological mojo value, sometimes i'll peg a 1/4" diameter plastic UV glow bead up front, turning my back and recharging it periodically. You'll not regret giving this 'trick' a try.

We are not quite there yet, last year was the first year I got to experience this crazy post spawn bite. My daughter caught one and when I went to net it I could not believe there was 4-5 more following it to the boat. It was total mayhem after that! That lead to a few weeks of being tired all day at work but it was definitely worth it. Love the content guys.

This is how my main lake is, you can see bottom down to 20-25' in a lot of areas and the day bite really does suck. 2 days ago I fished from 4-11pm and didn't catch anything until after the sun set, and once it got dark I couldn't keep a husky jerk in the water at all

Very informative, I love the night bite. If you could humor me. What kind of knot are you using to hook a 8# leader to 10# braid? The water is flat this morning I might go out this evening if the wind picks up. thanks guys

This is the ONLY way I fish for Walleyes on Lake St. Clair. the only bait I cast is a 15A long BOMBERS, Bombers cast a little further than Rapalas. I've had them hit lures at surface and some with 2 feet of line out the tip of rod, how do you set the hook?

You should sew a pocket on your bibs right by your chest. That way the needle noise is right at hand to remove a crank bait

I think the Wisco DNR have a good idea about creating great walleye populations. Weather plays a factor too.
