Excellent as always Tristan. Love the pretty location albeit for your fishing there were many obstacles to overcome. Look forward to another location you take us to in 2 weeks. From Dave in Portsmouth UK.

Brook trout don't live in ugly places. I fish many streams like this in mich...U.P.. One day nothing, the next day your fingers get pruney from catching so many.

Reminds me of my favourite small steam in No va Scotia; it’s so tiny that nobody fishes it, except me.

“‘There are no fish in here’, is when you hook a fish” SO true. The other day I was fishing a creek for HOURS with not even a sign of a dorsal fin anywhere. At the last pool I’m about to call it a skunk and I start collapsing my rod (left the line in the water cause I’m lazy) and I’m down to the last two sections when my rod starts shaking like crazy. I freak out and start hand lining and *poof. Needless to say I didn’t land it😂

Like it as always. Reminds me of a small creek also in southern Colorado that I didn’t fish until I got to the open meadow. Want to go back and fish both now.

I like when you put them back in the same spot you caught them!! No one else does that!

It's tricky because sometimes the pool is big enough that there's a good chance you'll spook other fish in there if you do put it back, fish that you could potentially catch. I understand why it's not always done (by me or others).

I have seen, I think, the majority of you tenkara fishing videos, and I have learned a lot. I've enjoyed every single minute of them all. Absolutely fabulous job. Keep em coming 😊

That takes some real (not "Reel", ha, ha) talent to fish a schwaky little stream like that. Hard pass for me, but glad to see someone having success in places I would normally skip.

Apologies if you've answered this before: I presume Brook Trout are not native to most of the streams you fish.. but if there were no brookies in these streams, would there be no trout at all? Or have they simply displaced rainbows and cutthroats?

Small creeks are the best I live close to largely lake, so nobody fishes the creeks except me. A 10m drive and I'm catching wild cutts

I really enjoy your genuine enthusiasm when you catch a fish no matter what size. Love your videos and how they are just about actually fishing and not about getting all artsy with shots of Aspen trees quaking in the wind or fish releases in slow motion but I do wish you still did them weekly. Thanks for giving something to look forward to every other Saturday morning, stay safe.

I've always said that I'm more interested in creek size than fish size. I just like fishing small creeks for whatever I can catch. I miss the weekly videos, too. To be frank, if this channel made more money (we're talking thousands more, not just hundreds more), I could justify spending the time and money to fish often enough for the weekly videos. But it's also a tremendous amount of work and stress to do weekly videos, so... 🤷‍♂

First time watching. I love fishing for brookies. I keep a few to eat. Turn the rest back. I’ve not seen the no reel deal before. Do you just tie the line to a guide?

Do you buy a fishing license in every state you fish in? Daily or yearly? Or is there such a thing as a USA license?

How do you clean the rods? Will alcohol eyeglass wipes hurt the finish? Sorry new to this telescoping rod thing and I tried those after fishing urban trout waters.

Just disassemble the sections and wipe down with a damp cloth. Let fully dry before reassembling

@@chuterence sounds good. I tend to go over board. Loving tenkara and keiryu fishing. Flyrods are getting dusty! Lol First two times out I hooked a few big redbreast and a rock bass. Lost the rainbow trout. Got too excited and broke off.

Watching this amazes me that there are fish that size in such tiny water. But at the same time, it gives me a better understanding of why fires in such places grow into such horrendous monsters. There is a LOT of fire food just laying around waiting for the inopportune lightning bolt to set off the next inferno. Holy crap, I can't imagine having to fight a wildfire in that heavy fuel environment. Looks like a death trap to me. 😬

It seems that in a stream like that, where it is hard to make long casts, it would be pretty easy to spook fish. I read recently that fish can see behind almost as well as they can see in front of them. You did pretty well, all things considered.

@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict 3 ай бұрын
Not really. Fish in small creeks like this are always eating. It's more dependent on the creek than the fish or anything else. On some creeks, I can catch 100 fish in a day. On others, it's hours between fish, if even I can catch one at all. Try fishing different waters.

Thanks again Tristan for taking us along. Beautiful stream and scenery. Do you have any good tips on doing the bow and arrow cast? I am not very good at this type of cast and therefore miss out on some good spots on a creek. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict 3 ай бұрын
1) Point the rod right at the spot where you want to cast. 2) If possible, grab the fly itself to pull back on. If not possible-depending on line and tippet length, it might not work well-then grab the knot where the tippet and line meet and pull back on that. But grabbing the fly is more accurate and there's less chance of the fly nailing you in the finger on release 😄
