Doing things with your kids is most important...before you know it they will be in the 50's as ours are with their own families making memories. God Bless & saying prayers for all who need them!❤

My late husband and I built out a bluebird bus exactly like you are doing. We played bluegrass music and traveled around to all the music festivals in it. We only needed a place to sleep because we spent most of the day outside playing music. We found a set of old prison bunk beds that we could bolt to the floor for our beds and we used the handicap toilet with a bucket under it for our toilet. We placed a diaper in the bottom of a bag and put in the bucket to absorb liquid and tossed in some of that blue liquid odor absorber into it so it did not get stinky. then we took the bucket with us and dumped the sealed bag in the dumpster. We were usually at a festival for a weekend, up to two weeks. We did have a coffee pot and a microwave and a mini fridge in it but nothing fancy. We were there to play music and have fun with all our buddies and most of us traveled to all the same festivals so we hung out together in the shade playing bluegrass music and making memories that have lasted me a lifetime. He passed away 24 years ago and those memories are priceless. Do what you want because life is short and precious. God Bless all y'all. I love keeping up with the Walkers, though this is probably my first time commenting, I always watch and give you a thumbs up. Love you guys and those precious kids. Great idea for closing up the bathroom. Mazzy especially will need the privacy as she grows up. She is becoming quite the beautiful young lady.

My thinking with the bus heat... That if you had a tent that was bare minimum to put over at least a portion of the bus to keep the direct sun 12 inches from off the top of the bus. Just a flat piece with 4 legs or stakes to keep direct sunlight off bus. Or maybe something you could put on the top of the bus once you're settled. You could strap it to the bus somehow maybe. And you can also have the option of having a flap that goes down one side of the bus maybe with a window opening type flap. And then there's the version of some kind of tent that will go over just the top of the bus and beside it so you have some sitting area outside that's shady. Hmmmm I know there are so many options out there. Either way, what's right for you and the whole walker farm fam 😊♥️

When I was a kid my grandparents had an old school bus on their property in the country. They stripped out the seats, ran electric to it and two beds inside. It was used for guests like us when we came to visit. No luxuries. Some of the best memories we had were sleeping in that old bus. I’m sure it will be perfect for you all if and until you decide to do something else with it.
@Og-Judy2 ай бұрын
What one does with the shell of an old school bus is their bizness. To me changing from a glamping seasonal recreational use vehicle is WAY different than people turning it into a full time living quarters tiny home. Why should there always have to be some kind of rules, so someone else says you doing it wrong? Wrong how? It's YOUR bus! Jeepers Nelly. You doing this wrong. You doing that wrong . Those folks need to worry when they are re purposing THEIR own school bus. Good grief.🤷🤦

When I was a kid we had a boat. And we had a kitchen table that made down into a bed with the cushions. And for us kids we had the flat bunk beds on the wall that you would let down on one side and they were back of seating area. And the bow area inside the boat add a cushion on it the shape of the front of the boat fit 2 adults. And the size of our boat was smaller than your bus. We had a little sink in the kitchen. Great memories on the boat as you will have on the bus 😀

I agree you guys should do with it what you want so that you enjoy it, ignore what everyone else says you have to do. We used to tent camp and I always dreamed of having an RV that I could boondock in while in Grizzly Bear country (we have them up here in North Idaho). Anyway, we finally got an older RV that was in excellent condition. Its small enough that we can go almost anywhere, yet it has all the things we wanted....especially a bathroom. It is not fun going to the outhouse in the middle of the night with Grizzly bears around. We have had it now for 4 years and we absolutely love it! Excited to see what all you do with your Bus/RV.

My husband just built a tiny home on top of a trailer on his KZbin channel kenskarpentry. It was his first project like that and he had lots of fun with it. He's been a contractor all his life and has retired from that, but builds projects at home to sell and continues to do his KZbin channel. One of his subscribers called early in the project and purchased it so he will be delivering that soon. You'll learn alot as you finish your bus project and your doing a great job with it. Such a fun thing for your family and friends.

When our kids were lieele, I made a camper out of our regular size window van. Everybody had a bed, they all had a duffle bag for clothes and what ever they wanted to take, a porta potty, a portable kitchen that opened up out the back door. As a family we had so much fun, didn't spend a lot of money but the trips we took were memorable. When we got home we took out the camping stuff and it became the family vehicle again. You are so right to do it your way and will have many memories

Just a little note to keep in mind when you make a toilet for your schoolie/ busamper (lol) I live in south Louisians & I rode on the Mardi Gras floats for years. There were no bathrooms on the float & our ride was from 7pm to about midnight. Well we used a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat, & we also put kittie litter about half way up or maybe a bit more. It absorbs very good, & it's perfect for urine smell. Keep the top to the bucket & attach it back to the bucket & travel back home with it in case there is no place to discard it on camping grounds.

Guys, I saw another yt channel, a guy and his family painting his rv/van conversion with the paint for farm equipment, like tractors and such. He got it at the big box hardware store and it's so it can sit out in the weather and it's super durable under working conditions. Don't know the cost but it looked great after. I don't remember he mentioned a brand name but the color they got was like just darker than sky blue and they rolled and brushed it on. The whole family did it and it was a thicker kinda paint. Sorry about my lack of details but I thought it was a great idea then and it might be a good idea for ya'll now. Hope that helps.✌️

A bedside potty chair is a great bathroom option. A portapotty is another. I think rollaway beds are convenient yet not very comfortable. A fold up bed that hooks to the ceiling would be more comfortable. Another bed option is a hammock bed. Love what you have done so far. Do what works for you.

UNLESS they are paying for it.!! 6 family members in a camper some could be content, but i would prefer the extra room especially when its redone with all the love and lessons. taught in the process. Memories. Casey i love how you can be so blunt and to the point about how people try and tell you that you are doing things wrong. Being nice just doesn't work anymore. Love your channel because you guys come across as being real. Some channels come across as fake as all get out. The ones that are to nice in bad situations, ones that try to come across as perfect. For the tent bus, Gary, if you still use Temu they sell all sorts of decal type things that you could put on the sides, & maybe the back of the bus You already have black accents with the safety bars, which I imagine you are keeping, so when it comes time to paint, you can approximate the colours to match those gorgeous pontoon couches! Practically, if the kids have a bed all the way across the seating area, you will need to put some fold down steps or something to make the back door more useable for the adults to get in & out ? The half bath, that commode sounds hopeful, so long as everyone fits comfortably between the arms of it, but can you secure it adequately? Now is when all the camping stuff goes on sale here, maybe you too - so other options may be in the price range. For the casing - could you use a shower fitting - frost in the glass if necessary with a selfadhering film, but the frame/door should be about skoolie height, and again, utterly waterproof! I don t know if you could buy just a shower door in a frame?
