Thank you very much for pointing out this topic; fortunately I'm happy to say that most of the countries in the Americas (including my homeland, Mexico) give citizenship through jus soli, so, this is a relieve for millions of people who've come to migrate to our region. Best regards.

Sad to live in a society that requires you to prove who you are with burocracy, more than with your real self. Find and live in community, or steal some identity to operate in the established society.

Just finished this on Netflix last night. Tbh, I watched it all in one go as it was truly gripping from the first ep. I have to say, it really speaks to the lunacy of the film industry that Blanchett won an AAA as best supporting actress when she was probably only 5 mins if a 6 hour series. I mean, she was good and I adore her but c'mon. The Imm director actress, the refugee, and the guard were absolutely phenomenal. These were characters you were rooting for and against at different times in the series, which adds a real life complexity to the state of human beings. I could have done without the air hostess, her main scenes were delusional dancing and overwrought crying-no subtly required, but it added an entertaining element to a critical global problem.

This problem is a global problem.. It is so hard to fix(political conflict) but it is certainly fixable If we the people exercise our right to vote. It is the obligation of the law makers to push this issue in the congress and with the democracy it can truly happen and be fix... All of us can be a refugee... We don't know what the future brings us as disaster and an out break might occur in the country where we live... We should help one another as we all come from the same race... The Human Race.

I was born in the UK. I have a full UK birth certificate, a national ID number, legal right to work and live in the UK and married legally in the UK. my father is British but my mother was born in America. Because they aren't married that makes me stateless because im not allowed to inherit my fathers nationality if he's not married to my mother. Despite the fact that I am born and registered in the UK. So I'm not allowed a passport because in the eyes of the gender discriminative british law im not a british citizen. Im Stateless. I just found that out while trying to apply for my first British passport during lockdown.
@ssanonswu20103 жыл бұрын
If you are under 18, you can apply for British Citizenship under BNA 1981 section 3(1) as you are stateless with British father, also if your mother is American, you are American by descent
@V_For_Vigilante2 жыл бұрын
This is false. Decades ago they used to have this law which denied citizenship for children with unmarried parents but now they allow anyone with at least one parent that has british citizenship to become British Citizen automatically by birth even if they are not married

0:02 "Country you were born in, ..., didn't consider you a citizen" Great because I don't have to file taxes to the US even though I never lived in the US. 0;21 "Stateless People legally doesn't exist". What? I renounced my US citizenship to become stateless (as I've never really been to the US and I'm not a dual citizen) and I still have my ID. I can travel with my 1954 Convention Travel Document. Yes, I still have birth certificates. 1:38 That's not statelessness, that's being undocumented. 0:49 The actual number is much much lower. Most of these are not really stateless, they're undocumented. 0:59 Go to school? School system is fundamentally broken. Why would I go through a place that truamatised me? Bank account? Why not go Bitcoin or Monero? Why didn't you mention that renunciation of citizenship (in some countries like the U.S.) is also how people to be stateless. I don't want to belong. Why are you forcing me to belong? Yes change the laws, re-work the citizenship paradigm! Citizenship is a man-made problem. Everyone has the right to make a choice of not belong.

"Without a passport or a national id the list of things you may not be able to do......" That is a problem of the omnipresence of states in human affairs. It wasn't this way before WW1. The fact that you can not do much grown up stuff without having some parasitic corporation (a state) assume ownership of a part of what you produce is outrageous. If statism and its institutionalized extortion is ever to end, it is most likely through technology breakthrough, akin to cryptocurrency. Or an apocalypse.

I am competent and need to complete my education where I will not be used in the current model of class warfare which is undermining democracy and my potential to succeed. I have full citizenship in America. I will contribute beyond belief to the country that take me in. I will make sure my mark is for the progress of the culture, the advancement of the people, and the betterment of the soil. I can communicate with the Earth. A rich actress tells people what to do and what this things mean🙈 Come on! She is so out of touch with really life. I don't think she should be the person who acts like a teacher for ordinary people. Life is hard enough and people like her have no clue what's going on.

Surprise! Here you are yet again! You have commented negatively on literally every Cate Blanchett video I have come across these past few weeks, and you are the sole dissenting voice. Did she turn you down for an autograph or something? Are you jealous or envious of her looks and/or fame and/or career and/or life? Instead of reflecting negatively on Ms. Blanchett, your comments are reflecting back onto yourself, giving everyone the impression that you need some help, and something better to do. I really hope you will be ok and have someone to love that loves you back.

@@jmbunch9463 You're literally wrong in every case. Thank god I never met her. I don't have jealousy, I think she, like everybody else, deserves everything. I can't look at her face, due to all the things she has done. What I criticize on her I think about 99% of actresses for example. The only difference is that she was my favorite actress and I admired her. Nowadays I see what she became in and out and I'm disappointed what happened to her due to money and extremely awful people around her. That's normal in her world, so it's not an accusation. Everyone in this business gets like that. I also can't believe that no one recognized the dishonesty and the plastic look on her and admire her, but think she is natural looking and honest. Even the only famous people I respected and admired became the same like everybody else in this sick businesses.
