Catelyn's Dark Side: What Game of Thrones Will NEVER Show You! - A Song of Ice and Fire (End Game)

Welcome back for another A Song of Ice and Fire video. Today I am talking about our old friend, Lady Catelyn, who is now known as Lady Stoneheart. This is one of the many interesting characters from the books, but for whatever reason Game of Thrones decided to leave her out of their show. For those of you that don't know, Lady Catelyn was resurrected as Lady Stoneheart after the Red Wedding. When Arya Stark when warging inside of Nymeria, she picks up on her mother's scent, and pulls her from the river. This leads to the Brotherhood without Banners finding her body, then Beric Dondarrion gives her the Kiss of Life, which passes his life flame to her. Ever since this day, Lady Stoneheart has been on a mission. She is hunting down any and everyone involved in the Red Wedding, and this leads to her capturing Brienne, Podrick, and Ser Hyle. Brienne is held under suspicion of working with Jaime Lannister, which leads to all sorts of fun and shenanigans. My question is: where does Lady Stoneheart's story go from here? What will happen when Brienne brings Jaime back to Lady Stoneheart and the Brotherhood? Will their be another Red Wedding? Will Lady Stoneheart gives the Kiss of Life to Jon Snow? As of right now, Jon Snow has not been resurrected, so many fans thinks this can be done through Lady Stoneheart, but I'm not so sure. Let me know what you think about some of these ideas. In a way, yes; but when you actually think about it, it's a ridiculous story line. At least for the show. I think it makes much more sense to tell this revenge plot through the actions of Arya instead. It creates more focus for the show and gives Arya more purpose. The only thing hanging off this plot reconstruction for the show is the eventual fate of Beric. What will his ultimate purpose be when he dies. If not to give his resurrection power to Catelyn, will he possibly give it to Jon if he dies again during battle? Time will tell. If they do nothing with Beric's fate and he just dies though, then f**K D and D.

while reading the chapter when Arya pulls her mother from the river i stopped reading when she says "rise" and i started crying and cursing GRRM and his messed up mind. Then i praised it 10 seconds later. He not only shocked us by killing cat and rob he also made cat's daughter drag her mother's dead body out of the river. MESSED UP, messed up and genius.

I think either Arya will give her the gift of mercy or Jon (after resurrection) stabs her heart, forging Lightbringer (or Melisandre will receive the Nissa Nissa treatment)and putting Stoneheart to rest with Sansa, Arya, Bran, Rickon, Blackfish and Edmure watching!

Jon Snow will be the one to deal with the book version of the NK who is probably going to be linked to Bran. Jamie will be the one to kills Ceresi in the books and Sansa will probably be the one to figure out Littlefinger on her own. She now possibly knows that it was LF pulling the strings that lead to her family's death and her imprisonment in Kings Landing, she'll play along with his schemes by doing what she has always been doing by pretending to not be a threat, then she'll be the one to end him in the books.

I think it was an opportunity lost that the show didn’t include the warging abilities of Arya, Jon, and Daenerys. They’re all so good at it that they don’t even realize they could/were doing it.

I dont think it's possible for Lady Stoneheart to resume anything like a normal life, not only her body after having been dead for several days but in her heart and essence, so much of her is gone in terms of her thoughts, feelings and memories, she's just a black shadow of the woman who she was...good enough for tracking down and murdering her foes but not for anything else and she would know this and not make the attempt. It may well be that rather than Arya it is lady Stoneheart who is responsible for the reverse red wedding (the decimation of House Frey) possibly with the help of Jaime after Brienne brings Jaime before lady Stoneheart, a way for Jaimie to prove his innocence as Brienne did in bringing Jaimie. I guess we'll find out...one day.

Brienne fight with the last of the Mummers IS crazy awesome scene at the books. The series are a great show and fun to watch, but the books have so much more depth. It is normal to be it, and by all means it put the show down. The show mix up several time lines within less characters. It is clear, at the books, that the Freys will have it back on the Red Wedding, and the show finishing them all off at once with Arya, is for me a clear sign of that. Jamie helping Lady Stoneheart for sure it is a logic path for his on going redemption, but will not come easy. The Blackfish is on a guerrilla mode if recall well, would be nice if Jamie is the one to find him, and to have some kind of scene like that in the show when they meet, "Sieges are dull"... Great video!

The StoneHeart story is really cool and creepy. They missed a great story line that would have made the show even better but then again if they screwed it up like the Dornish plotline...maybe we came out ahead!! I really like the Lady Stoneheart character but I read somewhere that GRR Martin later regretted creating her. The TV series is wonderful and perhaps the best video recreation of a book ever, but inevitably it cant include everything.

She will take Jamie and take revenge on the house Frey this will take some time and Jamie will stay loyal to her till he dies in winterfell (but I'm getting ahead of myself). More importantly though she will collect the second sword that completed ice. Then with Gendry she will travel North with the Brotherhood without banners to winerfell when they find out the north is held by John Snow. At first she will probably be pissed but after arriving she will see brain, Aria, Sansa. I believe Sansa will hold the Knights of the vale by then and be known as a Stark that saved the vale with Littlefinger getting to fly out the moon door. Once lady stoneheart gets there the first thing she'll do is visit the Crips. Being so in-between live and death she will see more then we know and she will finally learn the truth about John and even more important how to love him! Gendry Will Forge ice and lady stoneheart will give her heart that is no longer made of stone to temper it for John to to use it against the night King. I'm a belief that ice was a special sword and this is due to the special properties that was used in it. That even as it was melted down we were shown in the show and heard it in the books of the uniqueness of it.

Great video. Really tied the story together AND outlined the differences between the show and the book. I think GRRM does a great job of building the trials and torture that Brienne must endure throughout her story. Hopefully, she is destined for greatness. Love the fact that Nymeria is still on the lam. GRRM really loves to sprinkle in the fact that Arya dreams as Nymeria. So does Jon with Ghost, but never as detailed. I wonder how this will play out, if at all, in the show. I wonder if the chapter on Sixskins, the Wildling Warg, that traveled with Mance Rayder has anything to do with the time Jon may spend within Ghost...You made a good point here, but logistically, it would be tough for the Hangwoman to get to the wall...however, perhaps the entire story of Beric and the BWB sets the precedent for the Red Clergy's ability to revive....

Reading Brienne's chapter I had the feeling He wasn't happy about the turn the Brotherood had taken after Beric's death. Could him be part of LS's final death after her vengeance? The White Walkers were already "awake" a while before all the Starks had left Winterfell. It's possible that he was still asleep up until the time that we were introduced to him. However, that seems unlikely. However, since we haven't been given any details, so far as I'm aware, it's a possibility.

Its pretty self explanatory, Winterfell is the home of the Starks and from there is the North led. If there is no Stark in Winterfell, there is no one to lead the North should there be a crisis.

I think she will eventually give Jon the Kiss of Life, but later in the books, during the Great War. I think at Castle Black it will again be Melisandre. Then later once the War for the Dawn has started, Jon will fall in battle, and then be resurrected by LSH as a form of atonement for all she did to him as a boy. In the show it will play out similar, but with Beric giving Jon Snow the Kiss of Life.

I just read the books. This is definitely the most drastic difference in quality between books and movies/tv I’ve ever seen. The show amazing but if you times that by 10, that’s the book. George is the modern day Tolkien.

I like this story arc for catelyn. It’s a shame that it didn’t get used on the show. Because it would have been so cool to see. Though, as if Arya wasn’t traumatized enough during the red wedding in the book she also finds her moms dead body. Damn, that messed up.

I haven't read the books but have the box set up to season 7 an it upsets me that I see all yours an Grey's an a couple others videos an get all this great information an storylines but we won't get to see them with the last season the final next year April an only 6 episodes there's no way we'll get to see all this as there's so much more that could be put to show to keep going for a couple more seasons , as I also a big fan of Son's Of Anarchy an they had 7 seasons with 23 episodes that went for an hour an a 1/2 so this makes me mad an upset that we won't get to see all of this , thank you so much for all your videos I wasn't a fan of Catalan stark but would of liked to have seen her as lady Stoneheart

Now that I know what I know, as just a fan of the show prior, Vs having read Martin's novels, the show is just a vague and horribly achieved "re telling" . I was always under the impression that Weiss & Benioff (D&D) were praised for staying so true to the original story... Really? Nothing I see or hear or watch as I dig deeper is even remotely close to staying true to Martin. And I also argue, that they had more than enough to continue the show and remain true and still be filming seasons now, without being forced to blame Martin for not finishing the books. D&D plowed through those novels and desecrated the main characters and structure and then I believe , being who they are, as frauds, couldn't sustain the charade and facade any longer and HBO I blame for this as well, for continuing with those two. And now we see a avalanche of research coming to surface about the insane conditions and Narcissism that those who worked on the show had to deal with and contend, being suffocated by larping narcissists, who project throughout the entire show , in every way, personalizing their own beef through dialogue. I am pissed that we won't ever get to see the true story and the actual novels brought to life, because it was totally used up and syphoned by D&D and HBO , and would almost be impossible now to scrub from the public and fans. I love the cast and so many aspects of the show, and I don7thinknyou can re create that. Unless it was just so insanely good, written and captivating, that we are allowed to cheer on a new telling . There is so much that was changed and even omitted that now I want to go read the novels fully , to try and forget about the robbery of this shows end. No wonder D&D were fired from whatever project they jumped ship to try and start... THEY ARE FRAUDS AND EXPOSED NOW and will never watch anything done by Benioff especially again.

Michelle Fairley did an excellent job and subtly showing Catelyns madness. Yes, she wasnt clawing at her face etc, but you can see that she 'died' spiritually before physically dying.

In the books you mentioned how in bran’s vision the trees looked at him knowingly. Could you touch upon how the ice king did the same when he was in another vision? Like how the ice king is tied with the trees. (Literally tied haha) as in was the tree part of the ceremony not just something to tie him to.
