Nice catch on the hat! If the tube is an exhaust pipe, you're correct in calling it a 'header'. If it's an intake (I looked up some example engine pictures and it appears the intake is driver side), I'm guessing they designated it as an intake manifold... but I would have to look to guess better. Either way, fun ride along! The weather looks almost the same up in the Puget Sound, just a little cooler with a high of 69°F.

BattleChemist Hey, thanks very much! I guess the steering rack just needed a tweak to adjust it away from the header. Greasing the bushings got rid of the squeak too. I miss the Puget Sound, wave hello to it for me!

Good to hear it was a couple easy fixes. Were those performed when you had a mechanic go over it to tighten down everything with a once-over that you were mentioning? Puget Sound misses you, too. It may be having this nice weather to try to lure you back. ;-p

Basically. Unfortunately my car was hit twice while parked so I had to have some other work done at the same time. I replaced the battery with one that shouldn't leak, removed the piece that converts from a side-dump to a rear-dump exhaust (so it's side now), replaced the ugly Land Rover fuel filler neck and cap, and repainted. Plus, some fresh and very oddly-sized rubber.

Avery Alix I remember reading at least one of your posts about it getting hit, my stomach felt ill at the thought of such a nice car being hit-and-run. Pulling off that rear-dump exhaust probably helps it perform better. As far as oddly-sized rubber... do you mean they're huge in back and look like bicycle tires in front? If so, that's just classic hot rod styling; nothing wrong with that!

In this case I mean that these are very rare 14" Caterham wheels. I don't know why they made them this size, but they didn't for long. The vast majority of Caterham wheels are 13" or 15".

There’s so many squeaks I’d go crazy until I found all of them and fixed it.
