@@granthibbett looks like it goes like a 180bhp. I lived my sigma with throttle bodies when I had it but happy with my DVA R400 k series spec.

Yes but wanted more power. So I got the R400 spec DVA superlight no. 128 in January and a love the high reving nature of the K series dry sump. 8250 rev limit. It surpasses my driving skills for sure. I think the nicest sounding caterham is your 420 on throttle bodies!!! Best sound.

Cor these roads look fantastic! Where in wales is it? I drove a 310R today and whilst it’s definitely not as efficiently rapid as my Elise S Cup, there is something infectious about them. So much fun. Sadly I cannot afford a 420 / anything more powerful but I think the 310 would be enough. It’s the same engine as this I think, 1.6 sigma.

Thank you. It's a run from Abergavenny to Aberdovey, taking in the Black Mountains. The best road is the B4518 from Llanidloes through Staylittle.

Lewis O'Kelly “efficiently rapid”, sounds very boring, I suggest you borrow a caterham, 270/310, for a longer period of time. You’ll find it just as rapid if not more so on the limit when you get used to it.

What is that 180 brake can you get remapping software quite easily for them is it adjustable by the user throw a laptop ? could do with porting polishing sounded bit flat at the top end should be able to get to 9 000 RPM. I wouldn't mind one if you want to sell it or anybody

You’re talking nonsense. The Duratec engine in these isn’t comfortable or the power best utilised at the top end let alone 9000 rpm.

I believe standard Supersports would be geared to around 110mph at the top of 4th gear (assuming 5 speed box).

Hi, it has been my dream to own a Caterham since I was 10 (I'm 17 ATM) how much are they to run and what's the insurance like on them?

+Daniel Atherton They're very reasonable to run, and it's certainly a lot cheaper than my Mercedes C63 AMG. Insurance is reasonable, tyres can be cheap (although I run CR500s which are comparatively expensive - although still only £110 per corner). Brakes just don't wear out and my car averages 32mpg no matter how I drive it. However for the thrills it provides it's extremely good value.

+Daniel Atherton You could use it as your everyday vehicle - it's more practical than a motorbike - but it would still be a heavy compromise. And you'd have to be extra diligent in Winter with regards to anti-corrosion measures. I also think it would lose some of its special-ness when used every day. But there's only one way to find out!

Mateusz Borkowski the only “bigger” engine worth considering is the 2.0 Duratec. Not only would that take it away from the originality of the supersport and potentially depreciate the car but it would also change the characteristics of the drive, more weight needing more power for the same return and a change in C of G for the worse.
