Mining machines have actually gotten smaller when you consider the machines designed in the 60’s -80’s that work 24hours a day. 365 days a year for 10 years or more. (96,000 hours) This thing works 15 hours a day between maintenance and probably lasts till 30,000 hours before needing to be replaced. What people marvel at is the efficiency. This digger makes energy affordable. When the mega machines can’t and human labour can’t. The thousand guys with shovels needed to compete with this thing would make energy and material un affordable in current economies or would be working themselves to death for pennies. Adapt and overcome.

@@tbalmer1207. Not necessarily when you look at Bagger 288 8.4m cubic feet per day. The captain 4.1 million cubic feet per day Big Muskie. 4.8 million cubic feet... Brutus 4.9 million cubic feet... per day. You’re talking about machines that are dumping 140-270 tons of material per bucket every minute or so. This thing at 16 tons per bucket would only be moving 1-1.5 million cubic feet per day. It’s not any better then the mega machines of old. But it can get to places faster then mega machines cancan. Can oad trucks themselves and be easily maintained and relocated and it’s cheaper then the mega machines. You could probably have Seeing as the mega machines cost $100 million plus. Compared to these things $20 million. 5 - 10 of these working 24 hours a day would be equal to the goliaths.
