I've got a 53 d2 5u that was my neighbors. He passed a few years ago and I bought the d2. I've since got it running but both clutches are stuck. It was a sweet operating machine before neighbor got sick but sat outside for a couple years and both clutches stuck. I'm going to try same thing today but under its own power, hoping for best.

Many years ago, I bought a 1946 IH TD6 for $250.00. It turned over but the starting valves were all stuck. After rebuilding the head, I got it running on gas, but it took some coaching to get it to run on diesel. it was so handy around the place, I gave it to my Uncle to brush hog out some briars and multi-floral roses. I was out of the country when he passed, and they sold the little girl in an estate auction. I wish I knew where she went, and could buy her back.

Also to gently try to unstick the engine have your dad pull the tractor a few feet in high gear with clutches engaged. Then shift to reverse and repeat. After 5 or ten tries and still stuck time to pull the pistons out

I resurrected a international btd6 that had been sitting upside down for 12 or so years we picked it up with a 20 ton cat digger then I had to pull the motor because the main engine clutch was well and truly stuck once I fixed that I got the motor going then to free the steering clutches I put a big chain on to a btd8 behind with the blade dug in then gave her full noise with both clutches pull in dropped the clutch prolly took 5-10 minutes of that to free both of them up
@chrishenkel21944 ай бұрын
Great videos!.... l watched the D2 starting assembly rebuild.. wow , what oil did you put back in there , considering its got a wet clutch... cheers
@squatch2534 ай бұрын
The starting clutch compartment takes the same type and grade of oil that you run in the main engine. Some people also choose to run ATF fluid in the starting clutch because it lubricates everything in there just fine but causes less viscous drag between the clutch discs and makes it easier to engage the starting pinion gear with the diesel engine's ring gear without clashing or grinding.
@sheepdoglogic2 жыл бұрын
I bought a D4C and the dozer has been sitting for 22 years! Obviously the unit will not roll, tried with a winch and it didn't give at all. Now at this time the unit was in the ground about 4". Since than, the dozer has been raised up and put on 2" x 8" boards. Tracks have been cleaned and are being sprayed with a penetrating oil. My question is this; What else can I check that might be seized? All the levers work, or seem to anyway. Trans is out of gear but goes into gears just fine. The dozer uses a pony motor but it is off the dozer and the clutch mechanism that engages the big motor is seized. So, just want the tracks to roll so I can load it on a trailer and bring it home.
