Gday Allistair, As always ,great commentry , love the comparisons to the other modles . That company would do really well to sponser you ,with the professional way their modles are displayed on your channel . Still,, i must say my real favorite is the welding repairs you do , second to none . Keep on bringing it . Much Respect ftom Down Under

Excellent model & great review! I haven't yet purchased any CCM models, but have considered purchasing some of them. I have a few of the First Gear "Pioneer Series" 1/25 scale models, including a IH TD 25 C bulldozer (& pipelayer version), an Allis Chalmers HD-41 bulldozer, & an IH 560 "Payhauler" loader. I got the Allis Chalmers HD-41 model (new)around 10 years ago, & the detail on the HD-41model (& the other 1/25 scale First Gear models) is phenomenal, in my opinion, & for a reasonable price, considering the large scale. I also have some First Gear models in 1/50 scale, & those are also very detailed (for a comparatively reasonable price). Your CCM Cat D8K appears very good, & the older Caterpiller bulldozers with this angular cab design (before the elevated drive sprockets) appeal to me. I may have to get one of them, sometime.

That's a stunning model. When you had it held at particular angles for the camera it would sometimes look like the real thing. As you say, the fact that the model company add individual parts on instead of casting as one makes a whole world of difference. One thing I'm still struggling with is the model company name - CCM. I'm a biker and it confuses my head a little! I remember those older machines. Our Northumbrian villages were often overshadowed by massive old colliery spoil heaps with some being 300 feet high. A bunch of forward thinking people got together and used those machines (and others) to landscape those huge old spoil heaps and at the same time laid the bases of the many trunk roads which spread around South East Northumberland. Travellers today won't realise that the major routes they're driving on contain colliery waste such as stone and shale.

Remember having to rebuild the final drives and undercarriage that a pal and another guy kindly left on the workshop floor in pieces, about four months later it was back in the shop in a sorry state, apparently the operator was trying to tackle a dump fire with it and succeeded in burning the tale end badly. A contractor bought it and had the damage fixed, fitted a ripper and she was out the door to do battle once more, can't keep a D8 down
