As a casual admirer of construction equipment, something I really love about Caterpillar is the "readability" of all their machines; no matter the scale. When you see one you immediately understand what it does and how it likely works, and the implementation of new tech is reserved and thoughtful enough that nearly anyone can learn most of the intricacies of their operation just by blindly playing with the controls for a bit.

The ease of use of their controls is huge. You can take almost anyone and put them in one of their machines and it doesn't take long to be able to operate it at a very usable level. After a year in one you will find most operators are incredibly efficient in them. If you want to go down a rabbit hole on KZbin just search for amazing construction equipment operators.

i work for one of the largest civil and mine construction companies in my region, we run anywhere from 450-600 pieces of equipment at any given time depending on rentals and how many sites we have open, and apart from things that caterpillar does not make, every single piece of equipment on every single site if its owned by us, its a caterpillar. at end of the day for us its a matter of they have the best service infrastructure available, having sites all around western canada its imperative that when something breaks if we cant fix it ourselves, a finning service truck can be on its way. and no other company will strip a 10 year old 70 ton bulldozer with 40 thousand hours to nuts and bolts to completely rebuild it for less than half the cost of buying a new one, and of course cat makes phenomenal equipment in most segments

Went to a CAT factory today with work (hvac service). I’m too autistic to work at a factory like that, I’d be like “ooh tractors”

I'm in the crane industry here in NYC. All we use are Liebherr cranes. They're amazing and rarely break down

As a union operator, cat is the best. They set the industry standard for the rest to follow. Or least they can try

I haven't seen a single Deere loader or excavator, I don't even think Deere sells construction equipment in Sweden. It's mostly CAT and Volvo here. I've seen CAT excavators at a new school being built, Iv'e also seen a Doosan excavator doing utilities and some Volvo equipment in an earthmoving project.

I'm sure a big contributor to their success is how many big machines built by other companies are powered by Cat engines. Look up any big machine you can think of and a good chunk of them will have a Cat engine under the hood.

Please makea video on how hostile economies could give up their hatred and combine their economy. For example what would have happened if India was never partitioned. How would the economy have evolved then.

There was a time when Cat was ubiquitous in the diesel engine, and construction equipment. Now is more like Boeing, an also ran. Used to be a great company, then the MBA's destroyed the company.

Caterpillar is the definition of capitalism done right. They make excellent equipment, they’re an American company that has stayed mostly American. They obviously make equipment around the world. But for the main part, good company that knows what their goal is.
