As a casual admirer of construction equipment, something I really love about Caterpillar is the "readability" of all their machines; no matter the scale. When you see one you immediately understand what it does and how it likely works, and the implementation of new tech is reserved and thoughtful enough that nearly anyone can learn most of the intricacies of their operation just by blindly playing with the controls for a bit.

The ease of use of their controls is huge. You can take almost anyone and put them in one of their machines and it doesn't take long to be able to operate it at a very usable level.
