I bred Budgies (NOT Love Birds!) here in Australia for years and after I move house I will again (I have a very large aviary that can be flat packed). They are such cheeky, cheerful little birds :). I usually pull the babies as soon as the first one in the clutch starts to leave the nest and I 'finish off' that one and hand rear the rest in the clutch. They are very tame when it is time to sell them. In the USA they are called parakeets - The budgerigar is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot usually nicknamed the Budgie, or in American English, the parakeet. Budgies are the only species in the genus Melopsittacus and are native ONLY to Australia.

They are Australian Budgies, The Budgerigar is a colourful parrot native to Australia. Its plumage is bright yellow and green, with a blue cheek and black scalloping on its wing feathers. Its tail is slender and dark blue. Small in size, they're roughly 18-20cm from top to tail, and weigh 30-40 g, I am a breeder of these birds, over time we have developed many colors including rainbow/

Hey dexter I'd like to say that I live in the west indies and my family has always raised bugies, we find that small branches are better for them to stand up on in the cage than wire. It is easier on their feet as well as warmer and more to their natural environment

Good job on the Video. However here in Canada what you are calling "Lovebirds" are actually Budgies (Budgerigar - Melopsittacus undulatus) and the ones you show in the video are from Australia, not Africa. Lovebirds are a different species (Agapornis spp) and these are from Africa.

Hi Dexter. I love to watch all your videos. Please ))) In the beginning of this video you showed budgerigars. It was a pity to look at them, since the iron bars on which they are sitting were just awful. Such thin rods are very inconvenient for them. It injures their paws. Ordinary thin branches from trees will be perfect for them. I really hope that you will replace them. Thank you very much for your videos.
