#fishing #catfish #catfishing #southcarolina In this video I'm fishing for catfish on lake Monticello in South Carolina. Lake Monticello has Blue catfish, Flathead catfish, as well as channel catfish and is fed by the Broad River. I was using a basic Carolina rig and bream or blue gills for cut bait. The tackle I was using was mostly Abu Garcia 6500 c3 reels with Berkley big game rods as well as a pair of Penn fierce live liners a Jig Master 500 and an Abu Garcia 7000. I like to use these style reels because they all have bait clickers allowing me to freeline baits. Thanks for watching

Thanks bud. That was actually a very unusual day for me at monticello, the biggest one i caught was around 10lbs and typically thats my average fish with a 20 plus each trip. I prefer fishing in the day light from a boat because its so much easier to see my lines. Next time you go pond fishing for bass like you last video you should throw out a catfish rod while your bass fishing. I bet there is a good one in there!

Congrats to such a successful fishing day, buddy! 6:10 was a funny situation, I was afraid it would jump back into water! Do you think it would have a chance to jump over your boat? What advantages does fasting them to the stringer have? When you come home, do you kill all of them or do you keep them in a cistern? Good appetite and I am looking forward for autumn hunting videos!

Hey bud glad to hear from you again all the way from Europe! I have never had a fish jump out of the boat that i can remember but its definitely possible with the right species. I keep them on the stringer to keep them alive and fresh while i fish, then when im back at the truck i kill them and put them in my cooler. My boat is to small to comfortably fit a big cooler while i fish, and i don’t have any kinda of water tank in it or at the house (had to google cistern). Im excited about hunting also, white tail deer is the most commonly hunted animal in my area and for me that starts this coming weekend and i will be there! Thanks for the comment bud

@@meatseeker Hey, I´m so pleased you remember me from our earlier great conversation, buddy! It was very nice. Be in touch! Thanks for your answers and for the explanation about the stringer. You kill them when you reach the shore... It is a smart invention when you have no cooler on the boat. And yes, you would need surely a big cooler for all your catches!!! Best wishes from me for the comming weekend, smoke a decent white tail deer! Fingers crossed! So, no opportunity to hunt during the summer? Squirrrels...? And what all are you going to hunt in the autumn?

@@lukasbejcek8841 Thanks bud, i wouldn’t say i invented the stringer. They are extremely common for small boats and shore fishermen. Most of them are made from regular rope and catfish will spin and tangle them all up. I just make mine from steel wire and it never gets tangled up. works wonderful, never seen anyone else with one like mine. I hunt deer and hogs (wild pigs) mostly. I have killed a few black bears, which is legal to do but i really prefer to see them alive so i don’t hunt them anymore. But i may some day. We do have a season in the spring for wild turkey, which is a large bird that you can actually use calls to bring him to you. You can also hunt wild pigs year round on privately owned land but all i hunt is public land owned by the government. In America the government owns currently 28 percent of the land and a large percentage of it is open for hunting as well as camping and hiking. Its pretty

@@meatseeker Thanks, I love reading your replies! I appreciate very much that you hade made your own stringer from steel wire! You must be very skillfull! And I appreciate that you consider the moral aspect of hunting too. Yes bears are amazing animals alive and we don´t have to kill them all. I am not a hunter but my opinion on hunting is: If it is legal and we don´t bring the whole animal population to the risk of extinction, we should hunt without having moral doubts. Bears are abundant in America, you kill a few of them, the others will live. Hunting and death belong to nature. You wrote to me that you enjoyed bear hunting and liked bear meat very much. So I think you should hunt bears, you are a person that deserves it and doesnt have to feel bad for it at all. Many animals are nice alive but we can't look at it that way. Even chickens are nice but they must die, we need to eat meat. The same for fish, turkeys or squirrels, which you hunt. In fact, there is no difference between them and bears in this way. Truly, if I had an opportunity to hunt a bear, I would hesitate a minute! So, I hope that you will decide to hunt bears again, buddy👍

do you have any tips on how to catch channel catfish from the bank
@meatseeker

I don’t bank fish for catfish often but i would try to set up on a point in a lake or fish the outside bends of a river. If you can find a bank that’s covered in empty mussel shells thats a good spot to fish because there is a mussel bed in the water which catfish feed on. But im definitely not an expert on bank fishing tactics for catfish and i would recommend you check out the catfish and carp youtube channel. Luke runs that channel and fishes alot from the bank and has a ton of videos that are extremely helpful.
