Happens to my kids more often than anyone would think. So often, they are questioned for who they are, what they have, and where they are. I'll never forget the day one of my daughters classmates in our old neighborhood asked me why we do not have foodstamps......I was like what!? I told him because we do not need them. He asked why? I told him that because my daughter's father and mommy make a lot of money and do not need help to buy our family what they need. He looked so stumped by that and said, "But I thought all black people have to use food stamps. "...... 🫤. I told him clearly that someone was not telling him he truth because not one of our black friends needed food stamps. I asked him if his family had food stamps, and he answered yes. I told him next time he's in the store to see which people are buying their food with food stamps and who is not. We are always expected to be the lowest in any category.
