Nothing will beat the original UFO album version of this song from their 1974 Phenomenon album. I believe Schenker was 17 years old when it was written. A lot of people point to the live version from UFOs Stranger in the Night album but the melodic solo on the original is iconic.

Totally agree. While I love the extended solo on SITN, the studio version is, as you put it, iconic. BTW, have you seen/heard the early version with working lyrics? UFO [ ROCK BOTTOM ] [II] LIVE GERMANY,1973. Very cool. And as an aside check out 4:45 mark, far left of the screen, Klaus Meine watching his former bandmate? Rock Out and Roll On.

Phil Mogg, utter legend, as long as he was around, there was a UFO, no matter who else was in the band. They always sounded like UFO! Criminally underrated and unknown to most but ardent fans and the many new ones made by reactions to their stuff by modern listeners. All time great. 🎤

The live version from their Strangers In the Night album seems to be the most popular. I’ve been listening to Michael Schenker since he was the original lead guitarist and founding member at age 16 with the Scorpions. If you don’t know, Michael is releasing a new album, My Years With UFO, a 50th Anniversary Celebration on September 20th. As most, I prefer the version on UFO's Strangers In the Night Live BUT this song is great no matter when recorded, as long as Michael Schenker is on guitar that is all that matters. Great stuff every time, it is an all time great rocker! 🎸
