To me I think this goes to show you don't need to be forgiven to redeem yourself. It's never to late to change and sometimes people only realize how F'd up they've been once they've hit rock bottom. This song makes me realize how heart breaking that realization would be.

For me personally, i relate to Endeavor a lot, in my past i was so blinded by own ideals and aspirations i ended up hurting people that i loved, even to the point of relations being impossible to mend. Not only was the lyricism on point, i just know fabvl brought his A game with this song because of the birth of his daughter

Maybe Im too forgiving of a person, but I went from hating endeavor to liking him after his character development. They do such a good job of depicting him truly wanting to change and that kinda moved me.

Same, what he did is unforgivable and disgusting but I appreciate his desperate efforts to change and atone

So I don’t truly think it was a redemption arc but more so an atonement arc. Because redeeming would mean he manages to bring himself back into a good light. But that might never happen and he knows that. All he can do is show that he is remorseful and that he will never do such a thing again despite the fact that is basically too late for some people. Natsu himself said it. While he is proud of the fact that despite the shit they went through because of him, at the end of the day he was still a hero and he genuinely did fight for the people and that’s always something he will respect about him, but he still not gonna forgive him. I also was one who went from hating endeavor to rooting for him. He went from one of my least favorite to my number 1 favorite character in the series. One of the genuine arcs that didn’t just get immediately fixed or something of the sorts. Everyone still knows what he did and he knows he can’t completely make up for that. Thats fine. I think that was a fitting ending for him. Not bashing you guys btw just putting my two cents in. You’re not too forgiving, Haze.

I have been neglected by my father. However I admire Endeavor for trying to mend his wrongs. Something My father hasn't chased. Grandpa raised me and when he passed i said to my dad we lost our dad and he said "yes we did".

“Lost It All” vibes fr, instantly my new favorite song. Hoping in the future he does a reimagined version of this like he did with his Dabi song. It’d be interesting to hear an instrumental version of this master piece!

2:28 yeah I agree. It doesn't matter if you're mental health is poor or what sort of stress or anything you're going through you're still responsible for your own choices. Doesn't matter if you have trauma or anything like that. You are still responsible. Same with Dabi He made the choices he made to become who he is. He most definitely could have been stronger and taken a different road but he chose not to. Does not matter what stress or despair endeavor went through, that doesn't justify what he did. Neither does Dabis trauma.
@DParkerNunya3 ай бұрын
As someone who comes from an abusive household, I will always stand by the redemption arc for Endeavor. It comes from a choice he makes, to be better. And its not as easy as "I'm sorry, so I'm good now". He is constantly working to move towards a better version of himself and fighting through his own feelings of what he did. I would probably become a supervillain if it meant my family would have even attempted to put themselves on a path that loved me, so seeing him take on the pain that comes from being better is good enough for me.
@Alexanderthegreat159Ай бұрын
One thing I hate though is no one even tries to think about what caused him to be that way. Because at the end of the day men's mental health doesn't f****** matter and most people that say anything about endeavor never even try to think about what caused him to be the way he was. They're just automatically, oh he was a piece of crap. Which he was don't give me wrong but he wasn't always that way.

I love this whole saga, it’s the harsh truth of reality, it’s a grey world. Endeavor failed as a family man, succeeded as a hero in results, he’s still Hawks hero. The flashbacks actually make it more tragic, as Endeavor had his goal, but he didn’t want to sacrifice his son, him and Rei both tried to stop him, but both failed to help their son. I loved the ending where Endeavor is just making up with what he can do now, the past is gone, and no it’s not just him but the whole family is trying to move forward.

i genuinely adore endeavor as a character and his character arc its one of the few times in manga i have gone from genuinely hating a character and how they act disliking them on the screen every single moment to genuinely becoming one of if not my favorite character i didnt like him initially because of his poor attitude and the things he had done but his moral redemption really resonates with me because i have been blinded as he has and hurt people in my past endeavor is without a doubt one of the best written characters in modern manga and i will fight people on that. everything about him is just so well done

The one thing i like about this, is that it puts the entire situation with the Todoroki family into another interesting perspective. While Endeavour is pretty much irredeemable, he's at least changing for the better. Even if it's too late to make up for his mistakes.

_"I'm a firm believer in second chances but this man has had multiple children so he has had multiple chances."_ I get what you're saying, but I wouldn't say that's how it works. I think it draws a very dangerous line to say "You had your chances; now there's no coming back," like there's a time limit which implies there is a point of no return where there ceases to be any value in a certain person making good or right choices. That just encourages more bad choices. I think it's important that we maintain that evil is always evil and good is always good. No matter who you are or what you've done, doing the latter should be celebrated. That doesn't negate or cancel out your bad actions, also not how that works, but that's exactly why I think Endeavor's arc is so good - because it addresses that very dichotomy and explores the fact that even a man who has done so much wrong still ought to do that which is right, not because it will absolve him but because it is right. We see not only that but the guilt, shame and every other complicated mess of emotions that comes with the realisation that you have such an unpayable debt yet you still seek to do good. That got long but I want to throw in one more thing while my mind is here. A redemption is about being redeemed and to redeem is to make a payment of a debt. I think that's often forgotten when we talk about 'redemption arcs' but it's worth remembering because how the debt can be paid is the source of any discourse surrounding them. So when we think about Endeavor's debt, we need to think about who he owes it to, how big it is and what he's done to 'pay it back'. Even then, moral measurements can't really be made because everybody has a different sense of threshold for that sort of thing. Some would forgive Endeavor in his family's position and others wouldn't. Even then, forgiveness is a choice and a gift that doesn't measure redemption - you can forgive someone who's done nothing to deserve it because it's about you, not them. So because of how complex as it is, we can't reduce it to the simple matter of where we stand on those moral issues or how much we like/dislike Endeavor as a character. The focus on any redemption arc is who he's redeeming himself _to_ and what _their_ reactions and responses are, something that the Todoroki family has a range of. That is the heart of the story. Okay, that got longer. Sorry, that was fun but I'll shut up now.

look I want you to listen cause I don't think anyone understands how close Fabvl came to nearly killing me with this song, when I first heard that choir at the end I thought there is no way I thought Fabvl had gotten 2 males and 2 females to do the choir at the end to represent the rest of the Todoroki family (Shoto, Rei, Fuyumi, and Natsuo) singing it to him that would have killed my heart like I would have died on the spot.

While I will say MHA is far from my favorite show, in fact Its probably near the bottom of my list, I think Endevor's quest to atone is a really definitely one of my favorite parts of the show. I also think that after All Might retired Endevors fog of hate started to clear and the regret started to crawl up. I also think that Endevor is pretty young when starting out as a hero and seemed to grow up into a rich family so I can kinda see where the possibility of that came from. I dont agree with it, but I think the big thing that makes me accept Endevor is the fact that hes not looking for redemption. He knows he'll probably never be forgiven and at the end he wants a family. Even if that resentment stays.

@@serrano333 I never said I can’t understand him or humanize him, in fact, in the video, I literally said I can understand where he’s coming from 🥹🥹 I am only saying that, from the point of view of his children, they do not owe him anything, not humanizing him, nor their forgiveness. It’s good that he changed and wants to do better, but it’s also understandable if for some of them, it’s too late to ask for forgiveness after forever altering the course of their lives.
