I might be looking into this a bit too much, but i find it interesting that in cross my heart, Fabvl said "I'd burn a thousand lives just to make me whole" but in break my heart again, he said "I'd burn a thousand lives just to make me FEEL whole", which i think sort of shows the duality between dabi's insanity (cross my heart) and dabi's inner child (break my heart again). In cross my heart, Fabvl was showing how dabi thought his crimes would fix everything that happened to him, but in break my heart again it showed dabi's inner child just hoping that his crimes would make him feel better. Again, I might be reaching, but with how crazy Fabvl can be when it comes to writing, I wouldn't be surprised if this was intentional.

He specifically says “if it would only, make me feel whole…”, which kinda makes me think he deep down hates that he’s even doing all this to try and make himself feel something other than pain. And with Break my Heart Again being about the more human side of him, it fits perfectly.

Remember that Dabi was orginally supposed to become a hero like his dad Endeavor. That was all he focused on as a child. Endeavor told him to stop since his quirk was harming him and would only get worse. Then Todoroki came along as the perfect love child for Endeavor's goal of if not becoming, then making the next #1 hero. Dabi lost it and only blamed Endeavor for forcing that ideology in the first place. Fabvl freakin nailed Dabi as a character left right and center.

i can relate to both of these songs as dabi himself. my mom had abused and mistreated me for so long and didn’t even love me so these songs resonate with me super heavy.

11:00 Don't get me wrong You're right that what they both did was terrible. But one thing you never see people talk about is endeavors deterioration and what caused what happened to Dabi. Not being able to achieve his dream got to him and cause that to happen. Don't give me wrong it doesn't matter whether your mental health is deteriorated or you have trauma, you're still responsible for what you do but you never see anybody talk about the fact one of the big causes of all this was endeavors mental health literally going in the shitter trying to surpass all might. Doesn't justify it because no amount of stress and trauma justifies doing anything like this but at the end of the day it wasn't just "he was a terrible person" . The man got so blind and f*** up in the head that he couldn't see what he was doing was wrong
