Cathedral Quartet at their best. One of the all-time great songs in Southern Gospel music history. (Danny "skies" at the end)

After producing 18 projects for the Cathedrals I'm convinced there never was, is not now and will never be another quartet as great as these guys. Every minute I spent with them was heartwarming and inspiring. They will always have a place in my heart and I cherish every moment we shared together. Lari Goss

+Larry Goss This particular 4some is my favorite Cathedral line-up, and although I've known Gerald since his Dumplin Valley days, I'd give those guys & Roger the nod as the best. For you to call the Catherdrals the best is good enough for me.

Larry Goss I agree with you 100% and I have not ever been blessed with seeing them live. Just hearing the volume of incredible music they made, with people such as yourself, has st the bar very high. Thank you sir for your contributions to all of Southern Gospel music!

This song in my humble opinion is the best song Diane Wilkerson has wrote so far and what an honor for the Greatest Lead Singer ever to walk in shoe leather to sing it. Glen IS the Best!!! Thanks for posting.

I am so glad that neither George or Glen got bitten by the "I'm going solo" bug. They were the anchor and base for all the awesome voices who joined them! Can't wait to hear them in Heaven!

The top all time best Southern Gospel song ever recorded by the outstanding Cathedrals! Praise His Holy Name, Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins and rose from the grave, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice, Liz

The expression with which Glen Payne sings the last verse can make any audience stand to their feet. No group can sing this song better than them.

If you take away the powerful ending with Danny "sky-ing" then this is still one of the best renditions of this song ever. BUT when you add the ending with Danny then you have an absolutely powerful song sung by one of the best singers to ever live and ended by the best tenor to ever sing. It is truly amazing!

This is my all-time favorite song. Period. When I hear it, I have to stop what I'm doing and just praise the Lord along with it. No matter what your favorite music style is, no matter how religious you are, I can't imagine anyone hearing this song and not being completely moved by this song.

Danny is one of the few true tenors in that he never resorts to falsetto. It's all full voice. That puts him in a class with Phelps, Parrack (not counting the screamer notes), Frank Seamans

true true true. Emotions is what dragged this country down, in the bigger scale. Emotions are a powerful and dangerous thing. Emotions alone nearly most of the time mean destruction. Emotions with something else, like, say, backed up by intellectual and mind-made decisions, then yes, i'd agree with them:)

I sang for the Southern Baptist Convention and used the Cathedrals as my pattern.
@fumastertoo4 жыл бұрын
I first heard the Cathedrals when I was in high school. They immediately became my favorite group, and I sang to their songs all the time. When I say all the time, my step-mom could attest, I mean all the time. I have never stopped listening to them. I enlisted in the Army a few years later and was sent to Germany. Being overseas in the early to late 90's it was a little hard to come by Christian music. So I vowed to go see all of my favorite groups, which now included Point of Grace, when I got home. I was watching a Gaither program one evening and they had Glen and George on. I was so happy and my now wife of 6yrs was happy for me. Then after the song, there was writing that showed they had both passed away. I totally lost it, I burst into tears and my wife didn't know what was going on. A long story to say this, be grateful for everyone in your life. Enjoy every second they are with you, and remember the good times. I have lost many family members since then and my wife of 27+ years now has also. I look forward to the day we get to see them again. I also look forward to singing with Glen and George in heaven.

Someone badly wants to suppress this song. I thought most people knew that Sarajevo was in Bosnia since they hosted the Winter Olympics there in 1984. I was there and I am proud that my father won medals in both Nordic and Alpine Skiing events. I am fluent in Bosnian. The stealing of music copyrights is extremely upsetting to me!! I went with the Pope on this trip down the Danube River and through the Balkan Peninsula. It upsets me that Godless people have no respect for that!!

Lyrics: Overview Lyrics Videos Listen Artists Main Results Once on a hillside, people were gathered Hoping to see Him, as thousands were fed He touched the blind eyes, healed broken spirits He moved with compassion, while He raised up the dead Once on a hillside, people were gathered Watching as Jesus was crucified No one showed mercy, to the one who had healed them Yet, Jesus loved them, as He suffered and died Once on a hillside, people were gathered For Jesus had risen and soon would ascend Then, as He blessed them, He rose to the heavens And gave them His promise to come back again We shall see Jesus, just as they saw Him There is no greater promise than this When He returns in power and glory We shall see Jesus, we shall see Jesus, just as He is!

@tmua23 I'll try again. The word "worship" means to ascribe worth. This song does that in a form of testimony. That it is musical in well within the Biblical tradition. That it is well done shows hard work. That it lifts the worshipper's burdens, sight, and emotions is what worship should do!

If you think any of these tenors use falsetto, then you do not know what head voice sounds like. They only use falsetto as an accent in their arsenal of skills; none of the tenors from any of these popular groups (Legacy Five, Cathedrals, Gold City, and many of the others) use falsetto as his main technique to hit high notes.
@tmua2316 жыл бұрын
I know that you are just having fun but that's sort of a low-blow. I am proud of my Baptist heritage. And though I agree that we shouldn't be so worried about really expressing our feelings toward God and His mighty love and power we also have to be on guard that we don't pay the reverence due to an almighty God by keeping His House a place of worship and not just a building full of emotions.

I have to disagree with you. Worship is not an emotion. It is a folly of this generation and the last in making us believe that there must be some sort of outward emotional response in worship. If we are going to be very literal, this is called praise whereas preaching would be worship. I think that there are too many emotional responses in this world and not nearly enough spiritual responses to the Word of God. You would have to agree with me there.
