I have the DVD. . . the staging and dramatic interpretation is all too weird. What's with all the shoe stuff? But can Naglestad sing, or what? Just superb!

vms631, you're SO right, the German regietheater is a totally unnecessary and deplorable thing (I'm German). The day I read in a German newspaper opera critic less than 90% about the director/production/staging and more than 1 sentence about the SINGING SINGING SINGING, I'll open a bottle of champgne. For a single word about a da capo ornament another bottle.
