More Tid Bits on Catherine Parr: A) 1544-1547; She published 3 books. The first woman to publish a book in England, in English under her own name, (but not the first female English writer;1393). B) Her £7000 yearly allowance from Henry is about 3-4 million today. C) Her last husband Thomas Seymour is believed to have fancied the young Lady Elizabeth, the future Queen during his marriage to Catherine. Subscribe for more videos: kzbin.info

catherine was such an independent woman and i think that speaks volumes on her especially at the time. it’s sad that she was scolded for marrying many times yet henry did the same but the double standards are crazy

Historians have never found conclusive proof if that baby girl actually survived or not. Sweating sickness claimed the lives of the sons of her unwilling caretaker, so quite possibly she perished, by starvation or neglect, if not the likely illness.. then again, no one can be sure... Are there unknown descendants today?

To anybody interested, she most likely was strawberry blond. That hair colour can seem more to red and more to blond depending on season, lighting etc and accounts for her different colour hair in almost each potrait. Hence notion she was redhaired and that she was blond. Nope, she was in between. There are two supposed locks of hairtaken from her remains, and one is strawberry blond and one is platinum blond. Platinum is fake. No way platinum hair would look red at all. By the way, Catherine's pregnancy with Seymour was surprise because she was married 3 times before and had no child. Elizabeth Woodville had her last child in her early 40s and wasn't only one. Tudor women gave birth to children aged 35+.

Ah yes, an old hag in her 30's in the eyes of a *man in his 50's* 😆 you can reslly see the time and it's perspection on women and their purpose. Both Catherine's (not Howard) are often depicted as older women when they were truly women in their prime. In those times it was a custom for taking a teenage wife propably for the reason that they technically had more time to bear more children. Thus women past their mid 20's were often depicted as "older" even when the man was practically a mummy already 🤣
@leonieromanes72652 жыл бұрын
Yes Catherine was still a young woman when she married Henry. I always thought she was Henry's prettiest wife with her heart shaped face and fine features. But it's hard to tell from court paintings, which were highly stylized.

Sadly, not much has changed since, though we like to fool ourselves into thinking otherwise. Political correctness may prevent most modern men (and women) from saying as much out loud, but few consider women past their mid-twenties young / in their prime. It is still universally acceptable for men in their 40's, 50's and even older to engage in romantic relationships with women in their 20's, while women dating men considerably younger than themselves is, at best, viewed as distasteful, and at worst, downright scandalous. It's pointless to pretend that this could ever change - it can't and won't.
@carmensavu51222 жыл бұрын
@@Lana-pk5go Well hey if it can't change, we can at least silence the busybodies who think their opinions of other people's relationships are so important that they must shout them from the roof tops. Though as a woman who has always preferred an age gap (older guy), I can tell you it's nowhere near as accepted as you think it is. That's where my vitriol against the busybodies comes from.

Ancient historic persons would be extremely interesting. The obvous like Cleopatra and Ceasar, but more so the less known. Personally I'd be thrilled to see Artemisia II of Cara, a very fascinating woman, or her famous husband Maussollos of Caria whose burial site the Mausoleum of Halikarnassos was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.

Actually that platinum blond lock is probably fake. There is 2nd one which is strawberry blond and that is the hair colour she had. That is why in some of her potraits her hair is towards red, in others towards blond. Her hair colour was in between those two.
