Asthmatic here. Definitely fragrances trigger it. Honestly its best to not have fragrances on everyday. I use charcoal bags across the house to manage any odors. And they are recyclable just put em out in the sun for a day and they are new again and go back to wherever you needed them. For when you want scents i recommend doing occasional candle warmer lamp with milder and more breathing friendly scents plus soy candle only.

Last year was 8 years before we updated our kitchenware. We were down to 3 plates and two cups, lol. November we cleaned out the whole cabinet. We bought 1 dish set and 4 small bowls for our kids. I also threw out all the teflon coated cookware and got all stainless steel. Also all plastic items. These i found were not healthy to cook with. For buying i also stuck to in person buying and this helped me alot. I dont like being in stores because its always crowded and i enjoy being home lol. Clothes last year i got rid of 40 bags each month i took a trip to the donation center or trash facility. Saying no thank you to families items and gifts helped me realize my home was not working for us. It has become peaceful. I dont have alot of cleaning. Just typical cleaning that takes 30. minutes.

For Amazon, I just leave additional items in the cart and purchase only what I originally went to purchase. If next time I go on the site and I still want the item, I will purchase. I will then either delete or move the other items to my wish list until I decide. I do the same thing with other sites, especially clothing. I am highly sensitive to fragrance, especially artificial. A good way to use scent is to keep citrus peels on hand and boil on your stove top with cinnamon sticks and cloves. Before they had companies that made scented products women used lavender in their drawers and linen closets to keep clothes and linens smelling fresh.
@CatherineElaine14 күн бұрын
It sounds like you have a great system and some serious self control too!! I love the idea of lavender in drawers ☺️
@janetgentry184613 күн бұрын
@@CatherineElaine Not so much self-control as I remember having to clear out my parents' house when mom died, and my dad had to go to assisted living (dementia). It took us 6 months to clear 40 years of everything they refused to part with. Now when I go to purchase something, I think twice or 3 times about it remembering all I had to go through with my parents'. It gives you a difference perspective on what you really need to live.

I have asthma too and have switched to fragrance free for almost everything and also natural paint for interior decoration. The VOCs in fragrances and paint can be an irritant, particularly for those with lung conditions. I use Ecover zero for washing up liquid and washing powder. And an air spray called dew which is natural/fragrance free and is also refillable. If you want candles soy and beeswax are good. I choose ones with no fragrances (and open windows when they’re burning). I hope you can find some good alternatives to artificial fragrances, good luck 🍀

We have "lunch box cutlery", that were from an old first apartment set and we have our good quality set for at home only. I found that things get lost in lunches or accidentally thrown out and this has solved our problem. Just a pencil holder of extra a set of 4-6 (depending on how many in your home) with our Tupperware/lunch containers to grab and go is so easy. As long as everyone knows that your good set does not leave the house and make it easier to grab the cheap set while making lunches (smarter not harder) - everyone was on board.

The “clean” smell from air fresheners etc are chemical. They’re not actually clean. If your kitty and husband have asthma I’d get rid of those, as well as essential oil diffusers, and anything scented like fabric softeners/laundry soap/dryer sheets. I use a soy candle with essential oils only for a nice scent (you don’t even have to light it). Also natural homemade soaps with essential oils. Also good to run a hepa air purifier in your living spaces. And fresh air! ❤

Two tips: 1. If you can’t give up Amazon because of the affordability, then save what you want to buy and make yourself wait at least a week before you buy it. If you’ve forgotten about it and got on fine without it, then you probably don’t actually need it. Force yourself out of that instant gratification 2. Simmer pots! Boil water with a bit of cinnamon, vanilla, oranges, and/ or apples are a great way to naturally make your house smell good. Still be careful with specific scents around animals though

A nice smell without air fresheners - open your windows minimum one hour in each room daily! If it's cold you can be in another room and you can turn off the heating in that room whilst it's airing. Change bedding weekly, dirty bedding makes bedrooms smell and that smell creeps out into the rest of the home. Keep dirty laundry in the laundry basket until it's washday so that isn't smelling out rooms where it's dropped in the floor etc. Shower daily so the people aren't making the rooms smell. Keep petfood bowls clean, don't leave uneaten food laying around and keep litter trays clean/accidents cleaned up. That's it.
@VAwitch15 күн бұрын
Most homes in the US doesn't allow for heating/AC to be turned off in a single room. I've tried the open-1-room window tbu g before, since my son prefers a cooler temp, & even w his door closed, it triggers the heat to turn on. I just try to open the windows for 2+ hrs at least once a month, since my area usually still gets 60+ degree days occasionally thru the winter.

I promise they’re not traumatized 🥲 I don’t get rid of anything they currently love and use. They never ask where the stuff went because it’s never anything they actually care about

@CatherineElaine I really really hope so. It seems like not a big deal for a mother but you can not know what things the kids will remember and miss months or years later. A kids personal space and mind are very delicate...more than adults think. =/

One thing regarding your car. I don’t understand how you mom’s allow your kids to trash your car or your pantries like another KZbinr. I never allow such a thing they need to respect every space. And you guys are not doing them any favors for when they grow up. I know that it is harder to discipline and much easier to say yes to everything or ignore things, but that’s not parenting.

Declutter but still looks like there is an awful lot of stuff.

We just don’t have a ton of storage in our small house so it’s hard! I think once we move & have better closets it’s going to feel empty in comparison. It’s hard to fit 4 of us plus our cats in 1000sq feet!

I watched one of your videos and you mentioned that you have high cholesterol. And you mentioned that you guys are a cheese family. Well that’s your problem right there cheese turns into fat and clogs the arteries. You could eat cheese in moderation. There was one thing I didn’t like, when you said your cat sleep in the basement and it was not fresh smelling down there. I am an animal lover, and my animals are like children to me. I would never have an animal sleep in my basement and I’m sure a lot of people here feel the same way. And you should never keep up with the Joneses I don’t care what the latest trend is. I don’t get influenced by anyone, I do what I want. I only decorate my house for every season the way I like it regardless if someone likes it or not. Have a blessed 2025.

Sister, don’t believe that superstitious junk that my mom’s generation (she is 87) pushed on us about not doing laundry from January 1& no linen until the 6th. 🫣😳! It’s just awful. I hate how they also push the greens for money & peas for good luck!
