Today I’m helping a lovely old papa. His home is something I have never seen before. The home wasn’t filled with trash but every surface was covered with a thick layer of yellow grease. The most amount of grease was in the kitchen and of course I enjoyed the cleaning! His bed was also so sad.. the sheets hadn’t been changed in ages an were also turning brown. Granpa needs a weekly visitor who is provided with a list of major projects, such as scrubbing walls or ceilings, cleaning the sofa, taking the rug to a cleaner, acquiring a mattress, etc. i'm sure there must be elder care in your wonderful social services.

What a beautiful transformation! But what I find very interesting here - grandpa's house is dirty, but not clutered. Everything seems to be neat and have its own place, only grandpa probably hasn't got the strength to keep it tip top clean, still sticks to tidying. So sad and sweet in the same time. I wonder if any family member knew or cared about this elderly man's situation... There isn't much trash around the house, it's literally filth/dust, which means it took it a long time to accumulate this much and nobody checked on him?!That's one of the saddest cases so far... It’s not always familys fault. I know an ederly person that lives in dust and dirt and he won’t let anyone clean it. This is case like Auri usual jobs. Family offered help many times and was rejected.

I think your lesson/explanation about leaving the bed (mattress) as is when you have finite time and transportable materials is SO important. I think people get discouraged thinking that cleaning has to be “all perfect” so they don’t get started. You are returning these homes to being livable; we don’t need perfect homes we need to feel good in our homes.

I spent the majority of the last 2 weeks cleaning up my home. It's not perfect yet, but it's clean. And for that, I need to thank Aurikatariina and this community. Many older people live in tidy but quite grimy homes, especially older men. It's not that they are dirty but just that they are not as agile or able to clean for prolonged periods of time as they did when they were younger. I'm 56 and have already noticed a lessening in my flexibility and physical capabilities. Things we could do with ease become a struggle as we age. Well done Auri I am sure this gentleman appreciated your much needed help.

I think most of this is years of nicotine. My grandmother kept her house immaculate, but the ceilings and walls were yellow from smoking. When she got older and her eyesight got bad, her home was much dirtier because she couldn’t see it to know. But even then she always kept her home tidy.

It's not up to the viewers to decide what is most important to clean. It's the home owner's decision. The whole point is to make their life better/easier. For those that have a problem getting started with cleaning, try to find a podcast documentary or audiobook that you want to listen to, then set a timer for 5 minutes, start doing the task. If you don't want to continue after 5 minutes, that's fine! But I think a lot of the time, once we start moving while also being stimulated by something we're interested in, we can keep going.

The elderly gentleman might not have great eyesight and probably can't see the dirt as much, but he hadn't loads of trash or piles of boxes and cans, maybe he's a smoker too as that causes everything to go that colour. Great work, I bet he loved the freshness ❤

I want to, more than anything go in there with a steam cleaner and clean his walls and ceiling. Then use it on his mattress, mattress topper, and any upholstery. The wash his curtains and any fabric that is hanging or out (like those little flag thingies). Also, shampoo his rug. After Auri's cleaning plus shampooing upholstery and steam cleaning all surfaces would make this apartment feel fresh and bright. The grimy and dingy walls, ceiling, and fabric items need a thorough clean.

I love the full house cleaning videos, Auri- seeing the entire before and after is very satisfying! And I’m so glad that Old Papa has a fresher, cleaner home now. Hopefully he can maybe get some help to get a new bed and rug or other furnishings. It makes me sad to think of all the older retired people who live alone and do their best to keep things in order, like this gentleman 🥺

I prefer the full cleaning. Honestly, it more satisfying to see everything going to be cleaner step by step than in short videos, where it not longer, so you have to watch another short to bless your eyes with the cleaning. Furthermore, it’s better to watch long video because it help to keep more concentrated for a while and we can see the full room getting order 🤗

I really like the longer videos where you get to see the results of the whole house at once. Sometimes I have to go looking for the second half and since they do not have the same titles, they are hard to locate. I don't mind the longer videos, I actually enjoy them more than the shorter ones! Thank you for asking us🙂😊
