I live in a mixed use trailer and Mobilehome park in Ventura. I love being here. Most people are here full time. My neighbor across from me is a snowbird so he lives over half the year here and half in Florida where his kids are. He has his site set up so nicely. I’ve been parked here about 18 yrs now. I can’t believe it. But it’s been nice having a stable place to call home.

Take your time looking for a truck. Also get a pre-purchase inspection done by an independent shop. Your old truck still looks good to me and is less complicated and cheaper to maintain than a new diesel truck (which I don't recommend at all). Probably better off with a newer gas rig instead if you must change vehicles. Good luck. We always enjoy your Sunday videos.
@nature10879Ай бұрын
Yeah diesel trucks especially the newer ones need more care, mm even older ones. I prefer gas as well but for heavy towing, a diesel is the way to go. The tundra 5.7 always looks attractive to me but it can't tow a lot. Dodge and ford gas powered are great too, newer ones though.

Buying a piece of land and placing an RV on it to live full time is not that easy like some commenters suggest. Some ordinances only allow you to camp for 14 days a year on ur property. Check your local laws before buying a piece of land. You're better off buying a warehouse that your camper fits in. Privacy and security.

I hope you can eventually find a piece of land for your home base. The peacefulness of quiet and solitude is priceless! We currently have a spot in an rv park, long term. I love being hooked up to water, power and sewage but it comes with a price. No privacy. Not to sound harsh, but when I’m there, I just want to chill or take care of chores, etc…the neighbors have school aged kids that are homeschooled, so they don’t have much interaction and they’ve taken a liking to me & my boyfriend. So anytime we’re outside, they’re right there asking questions 🤪. Sometimes I just need to get things done, ya know?! I’d love to just quit my job and travel full time, that’s definitely the plan for retirement, I know I shouldn’t wait bc you never know what will happen between now & then but that’s the goal. But I love seeing your videos on Sundays. ❤

As someone who has spent a lot of time on the road the past several years (I did over about 15 months without a legit home, just to see what it was like), it was very enjoyable to consider all the options and find flow about where to be when. Like you, the Eastern Sierra is always on the docket... and so many other beautiful spots I've found in California. I myself refuse to become a resident of CA but I spend a lot of time there because I love the land so much. You're so level-headed in how you decide to make your movements, I think that's really important so you don't feel like you're just out there being pushed around. Best of luck finding your next rig and cheers to more amazing adventures! 🥂

It's good to change things up every so often and address concerns with our stuff. "Pay me now or pay me later" as the saying goes. Enjoy that quality time with your family.

Hello Catherine, if you end up looking for another trailer thats built well and tougher, you should look at a NoBo trailer, (No Boundries) they are built exceptionly well and have a Timbren axle set up, they are independent of each other and gives the trailer a smoother ride when off road and is way eaisier on the trailer and it's contents. I like the idea of a van as well, they fit in a regular parking spot and have everything you would need for a comfortable adventure. Keep up the good work and happy trails to you!

I stayed once in a RV trailer park for a short while. Other than access to the swimming pool and laundry room, I've found being stuck in one place not great. Even a 2 week camping time limit is too long for me. I like roaming around better, like 1 or 2 weeks at San Clemente State Beach, then 1 or 2 weeks at Skinner Lake in Temecula, or Paris Lake, or Palomar Mountain, or Yucaipa or Chino Parks, or Hemet Lake. There are an endless number of Federal, State, and County Parks, plus a massive amount of free BLM areas in southern California Between having a trailer, a RV, and a Van, I found my Van has the most pros vs cons, the most flexibility and the least hassle. Easiest to drive, park anywhere, virtually no advance planning where to park, least expensive to operate and repair. Our toy hauler trailer which we still use is great, and our old Winnebago RV was great, but hands down, my DIY custom camper Van has turned out to be the best all around rig. Its got almost 400k miles and if & when anything breaks, and everything always breaks, no matter if its old or new, its easy, fast, and cheap to fix. I'll never sell it. I drive it until the wheels fall off and just throw new ones on it. I've rebuilt the engine twice, the transmission three times, and at one time or another, have replaced just about every part once or twice. Its a GMC SAFARI VAN, getting 16 to 19 mpg, and it just runs & runs forever. For the past 7 or 8 years, I've been roaming around the 11 western states, always chasing the sun & good weather, so I'm usually in Southern California during the winter months where its always sunny & warm. I love staying in San Diego, San Clemente, Palm Springs, Malibu, Santa Barbara and Pismo Beach. There are so many great spots on the coast, and a lot of FREE dispersed camping and BLM areas in the desert. I usually come back to southern California in November or December and leave to stroll slowly north in April or May !!!

Two years ago, I got 3.5 off grid beautiful remote land with no neighbors in northern AZ. My 2018 TT is parked, skirted, wood stove there. Since getting mytruck bed shell 9 mo ago, I'm doing extended trips. Spent 6 wks boondocking around Duck Creek Village in southern Utah, including Blow Hard Mountain 😋 Right now, sitting in the rocky mountainous terrain, ALONE, between Bouse and Q, AZ for the perfect temps! My 2 dogs love the off leash exploring! (Btw, 400 watts solar on TT, 200 watts on bed shell.) Simple shell build out with a cargo hitched that holds 30 gal water bladder. Life is good!
@suec2117Ай бұрын
Does the 400 watt power everything in your TT?
@cyndib3587Ай бұрын
@suec2117 I basically have two systems. KISS method! I have a 100 ah AGM battery in the front storage bin and that battery is connected to 200 w of solar. This keeps the tt electronics going of the water heater, fridge, water pump, plus my lights and a max air fan. The other system is 200 w of panel connected to a lithium battery inside. It is for charging my two tablets and my phone and my rechargeable power tools batteries and small appliances like a hand mixer. Having two separate systems prevents me from having to worry about using too much power and then having issues with my fridge or water heater. (After 10 years full-time rving with my teen daughter, we used to always shut down charging electronics when are 200 watts of solar call my battery was getting too low. Now I'm not having to shut down in the evening, plus it's only me. KZbin is my best friend! Lol My stationary travel trailer is insulated and skirted, and a wood stove is installed for my heat. IOW, I don't run my furnace for heat. In fact, my wood stove is on a platform I built over the furnace box. 😜

I pretty much stay in a campground when I am on the road. Just to get my tanks good and rinsed out, really get a thorough shower. ( I have a shower in my class b, but the grey tank is so small, I can’t stay out as long, and have to carry more water , ). So I sponge bath, and wash my short hair in a basin. So getting into an rv park or state park or something like that with full hookups is important to me. I also do any minor food prep on that day. Getting ready for next week. I do a double check on my camper systems, and clean it out really good while in the park once a week. I now have a tiny studio mother in law one room apartment on some family property. As a home base. My van is down with major engine issues. Thankfully I think all will be covered under warranty. Because ten thousand dollars was an estimate I got. So I am doing some per diem work, and in early spring planning on being on the road again.

I noticed the little note from Mila , hanging in the trailer. Made me smile , that's sweet. Just what I have gleaned from watching the automotive channels that I watch on YT. Do your research before you buy a newer truck. They have a lot of problems , more than your older Chevy ! Ford trucks especially. The auto market is in a spiral right now and prices are coming down ,that's one good thing but they need to come down a lot more. I believe they will for a short term. Dealerships are having lots of trouble selling them so be patient and look in different areas , some areas are less affected , so far , but they are all feeling the bite . People just can't afford the crazy prices that have been in place the last few years . Good luck. Fwiw , I bought a new Ram 2500 Cummings 6.7L in 2016 . . . . knock on wood , I haven't had any problems except taking it in for the recall problems when I get the notice in the mail which were minor things that hadn't given trouble but the recall probably saved me from it. Good luck on your search ! You could probably have a new drive train set in that chevy for what you could buy a used , newer model . . . just a thought.

On the truck, we have a Four Wheel Camper Project M topper, which has a comfy bed, power, and lights. They start around 12-14K, I think. You can customize your camper and still use the truck bed for hauling stuff if you need to. FWC also has a shell model with heater, more like a truck camper with pop-up. Happy holidays. As I've mentioned you before I have an ATC toy hauler 24 foot trailer. It's very good quality. I put it in a storage unit for 5 to 6 months between May and October and live in my Ford F150 super-crew four door 4x4 truck outfitted as a Overland vehicle I travel to 10 western states doing nature photography My Ford F150 is a 3.5 L V6 ecoboost which can tow up to 12,000 pounds although my trailer is about 8500 when it's full and loaded with water so your trailer would tow easily with this set up I'm 5 foot six and 114 pounds. I had all the seats removed and a platform built I'm able to sleep where the backseat was. I had a Maplewood box built where the passenger seat was, and there's enough room for me to squat and pee in the middle of the night. I love the convenience and safety of sleeping inside the vehicle. I have a 5.5 with a Lear camper shell and a truck vault slide out tray so I can reach all the containers in the back I have a second shelf with extruded aluminum bars I have a 37 quart freezer 1500 W power station and 800 W power station and two solar panels on the roof of the Lear camper shell that charge the power stations which charge the freezer I usually cook in my butane stove on the tailgate of the truck or a random picnic table With my set up, I don't have to pay anywhere to sleep by sleep VLM land neighborhoods parking lots five star resort anywhere I want no one knows I'm in the truck I traveled at 10 Western states do nature photography and have the convenience of moving quickly and going anywhere I want anytime following perfect weather Then I return to my trailer and October take it out of storage and bring it to Arizona for the winter I don't care for RV parks I'm in one for a few months during the winter in Yuma AZ to be warm and comfortable I wish you great success in finding your perfect truck and situation I think I found mine even though I don't like RV parks in the winter I Boondock for a couple months and then do the RV park for a couple months when it's cold windy and rainy My story about living in my Ford will be publishing OutdoorX4 Magazine in the January and February issues I hope something I shared is helpful to you Morganne

Thanks for addressing health care. I go to the VA, so I can go anywhere. I'm 58, and sadly I just started having seizures, but I had planned on being a nomad for a couple of years. I don't think that it will happen now...

I'm a full timer myself. I park host in the Park city Utah area for the summers. The last few winters I stayed at rv parks in Arizona. It was extremely difficult to find a place as most places were booked. This winter I'm heading to southern Utah for the winter in an rv park. A lot of full timers have quit I guess so it was much easier to find a place.

My parents had a 31 ft MH. They would come to visit and stay in their rig in my driveway off to the side. It was really ideal. They would go off to their home outside after dinner time for some quiet private time and leave me to my quiet privacy and it was perfect. Their visit was always welcomed and it was less intrusive with their own rig. I’d forget they were out there sometimes. I do the same to go visit my daughter now. And it gives me a respite from the activity in the house. Ideal if they have the space. 👍

You might want to check Yuma and Mesa Az. for fairly new rigs. Lots of Snowbirds winter in these areas and unfortunately some pass away while there, leaving the surviving partner to dispose of their rigs there to move in with remaining family back home. Some RV parks there might have bulletin boards advertising selling trucks, trailers at Estate Sales.
