Totally agree with you, my home town of Golden is ruined, way to many people, used to live at the base of table MTN, so nice & quiet, now hoards of people, a quiet 2 lane road is now a 4 lane with huge houses, kinda sad to see what was once beautiful open meadows ruined, & the pollution is terrible, never used to be this bad, but places get ruined when there is to many people, but this is a beautiful video

A little trivia: French toast in France is called "le pain perdu", which literally means "lost bread". ("pain" is the French word for bread) It originated as a way to avoid wasting stale bread, bread that would otherwise be wasted, i.e. lost.
@CatherineGregoryAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Very cool Kimberly. Makes sense to me! ❤
@johneason65403 жыл бұрын
Very interesting info. Thanks 😊
@noworries.86013 жыл бұрын
Great trivia, thank you. Is it true stale bread is best when making "le pain perdu"?
@KimberlyGreen3 жыл бұрын
@@noworries.8601 Well, there are some differences between American french toast and French pain perdu. The French use a sturdier, crustier bread, rather than the sandwich bread we typically use. They also soak longer, in a custard (eggs, milk, creme, etc) instead of just an egg wash like we do. The stale bread soaks up the custard & softens it, while the crust keeps it from falling apart. That's how the bread gets "unlost", i.e. soft enough again to use & eat. I wouldn't recommend that for American-style sandwich bread because the crust isn't sturdy enough to hold up to an overnight soaking.
@noworries.86013 жыл бұрын

A few years back I had the pleasure of being picked up at the Albuquerque airport for a trip to Ouray thru Silverton, and a few other beautiful places, to attend a wedding. Traveling along the Million Dollar Hiway we reached Ouray and was amazed at the sight. While in Ouray I enjoyed an excursion along with other relatives to some old mining areas accessible only by four wheel drive, beautiful. Also climbed to top of waterfall that freezes in winter and has hundreds of ice climbers from all over the world. Ouray is a beautiful place and would definetly visit again.

It is worth noting the elevation of the town of Ouray (almost 7800') and that almost the whole thing is off-camber, so walking around town could be tricky for some. I've spent lots of time there over the last 30 years, still one of my faves! P.S. Thank goodness for Dan!

Yesterday I hiked up Yankee Boy from the Ouray 550 parking lot, 13+ miles of INCREDIBLE scenery, turned around at the fork that went to Imogene and Yankee Boy basin. Wish I had the energy to make it a little further up to the basin but that was one heck of a elevation accent and I was out of energy. Thank you for your beautiful video of this area.

Thanks for the short tour of the Ouray area Catherine. We lived in the San Juans for many years (Lake City, Durango), and even honeymooned in Ouray in 1987. We used to ski Telluride and Crested Butte regularly. As we watched this video, we eagerly awaited to see one of the most popular of all attractions there, on the north end of town, and were sad that it was completely missed and not mentioned. Ouray is world famous for its massive hot springs public pools, an incredible experience, especially at night when all the lights are on. Tens of thousands of visitors soak in the pools every year, and one part of the facility includes a cooler lap pool for serious swimmers. Well, all is not lost I suppose if you ever visit again, and you can see for yourself this magnificent hot water wonderland! steve
