If I were an alien from another planet who just arrived to this planet and wanted to know more about Christ and His teachings, where would I go? The Bible. Then I would ask where did the Bible come from? That would lead me to the early Christian writings (Church Fathers). That would in turn lead me to the Church Councils and their decisions. If I were to try and interpret the Bible on my own, who knows what I would come up with. And if I didn’t dig deeper, how much I would miss. Thank you for sharing this. As a Catholic “revert” myself, I love all of my “Bible only” family and friends and refuse to argue with them. I don’t have the mental, emotional or physical strength to enter a verse vs. verse battle with them. But what I can do is pray and offer up my stage 4 bone and breast cancer battle for remission of my sins and the conversion of my family, friends and enemies. May Jesus have mercy on us all. Religion does direct to God in the fact that it makes men seek the divine. But the pope has also said that Jesus is the only way to heaven. His belief is that if people truly seek God and desire truth, even in their religion, they will be led to Jesus Christ and Christianity, just as non-Christians were in the Bible.

Gentiles were not in view yet, as they did not become grafted in until 3.5 years later, with Acts 10. The Greek word that was used, was "aion" which means age. This had to do with their earlier conversation in Matthew 24, when they were talking about the destruction of the temple that was supposed to happen within their generation (destruction of temple marked the end of the age). Hello, this is Bryan. This video came by necessity. We had it recorded already. I am having major voice problems and probably won't be able to record for a while. That's why we've been doing interviews or videos we already have recorded. I would have to look into more, but it sounds confusing, and well, wrong. It definitely seems.to contradict the official position of the Church which condemns syncretism. I don't think he was trying to do this, and I think he was trying to create some unity as opposed to just fighting, but it could have been a lot better, in my opinion. He may have softened his position a bit, but in my opinion, too much. I would have to look into it more because the Church is clear Jesus is the only way to heaven and we can't learn anything from other religions in terms of salvation. If he was just trying to say, don't fight about religion, I agree with that. But again, it was very confusing and sounded like a contradiction what Catholics actually teach him believe.

I believe he is saying that all have the ability to find God. Which is true. Romans 2 says that all mankind has it written in their minds and on their hearts. Also, the Pope did a sermon just before this, saying that Jesus is the only door to the Father. Now that's salvation. All he was saying is that we must dialogue with each other and do it respectfully. Not saying "my religion is better than yours" "my God is greater than yours". After he said those things he said "there is only one God"

No, the Catholic church is clear that Jesus is the only way to heaven and there's no salvation outside the Catholic church, though there are exceptions to that. Even Pope Francis has said that only Jesus can get us to heaven. That doesn't mean that people outside the Catholic Church can't be saved, but it's a lot more difficult.

@@rl2388 pretty much the exception is if a person through no fault of their own never received the gospel nor entered the church either because of situations like the native americans before 1492 or protestants of today that receive bias against catholicism since birth and other examples called invincible ignorance. just because they have invincible ignorance doesn't mean they are getting saved just that it is possible for them to be saved while visibly outside the church. we can't know if someone has that or not so we have to keep praying for those outside the arc of salvation and continue evangelizing them in the spirit of love however frustrating it is sometimes when it goes poorly. as for feast days i wish i can tell you in more detail but i haven't really looked into those. from what i have seen is that they are special days that override the normal daily mass to commemorate a great saint, events of a saint's life, dedication of important churches etc. there are also solemnities which are higher in rank than feast days which would be holy days of obligation and important events of Jesus' life and other saints those masses are treated just like sunday. feast masses recite the gloria but not the creed.

We are all basically broken and need God's grace and cooperate with it. In the place where I am living, Protestants fervently shared the Gospel, be there for other people and lead people to Jesus. Catholics, on the other hand went to the church every Sunday and that's it. Everytime I went to queue in the sacrament of reconciliation, only 10 showed up, while every Sunday we have hundreds of people on the pews. I also met a Catholic psychologist who always brings Rosary, but she is supporting LGBTQ. So when I see Protestants who are really living the truth of the teaching of Jesus, I respect them.

We never claimed Jesus was Catholic. He wasn't Christian either, but he started Christianity and the Catholic Church. Hinduism and Judaism are two of the oldest religions. One is polytheistic and the other monotheistic. Catholicism comes from Judaism. God started the Jewish religion with Abraham and promised a Savior. That Savior was Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was Jewish but he stated a worldwide universal religion for all people, the Catholic Church. Catholic means universal. Does this help answer your question?

Not everything is in the Bible. No one thought so until Luther made up the idea of "Sola Scriptura" in the 1500's. We didn't even have a closed canon of the Bible until the 4th century A.D. and it was the councils of the Catholic Church that determined which books belong in it. Others were circulating but didn't make the cut. St. Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch, named the true church "Katholikos" (the original Greek) to distinguish it from heretical groups who were already forming in the first century, yet still calling themselves "Christian." Protestantism really isn't new. The printing press, although it did a lot of good, made it easier for heresies to spread.

What exactly are you finding confusing? It is decidedly not the case that Catholicism is the second oldest religion because any Chrisitan religion would come from the Jewish religion first. Whether Hinduism is the oldest is debatable. To my understanding Hindusim has changed a lot over millenia as well.

I was raised Episcopalian and converted to Catholic about 5 years ago. I went to my hometown church for a funeral not long ago and its bathrooms have been converted to unisex in capitulation to the trans movement. It's absolutely insane.
