In 1995 suddenly my career was taken from me. 2010 marriage disintegrated. 2024 finances aren't doing so well. Feel like I have been stripped of just about everything but I now walk closer with God and realise he is the source of everything. Hallelujah and AMEN to everything God has brought me through.

I wish we would hear more of what Bishop Barron had to say on the subject. Why are these mini lectures always being interrupted by this other gentleman? It just gets a little confusing for me, because I've become so accustomed to the way Bishop Barron articulates & when he's paused or interrupted it throws me off somewhat.❤

That’s crazyyyy.. as I’m waiting for the video to load I pull the chair back to sit at table and eat my bread and cheese spread snack and then he begins with St John of the Cross “Dark Night of the Soul” which is the book that I have right in front of me. Whoa!!

I can't guarantee what I experienced was a 'dark night of the soul', as I never even knew what it was. But I've been severely depressed for a long time, and I experienced something that shook me to my core. I think Bishop Barron is kind of downplaying it. I believe(not saying I'm right), that dark night of the soul is God thrusting you into purgatory. Which is extremely scary. Facing your sins and unforgiveness on a level that truly shakes you to your core. To me, it felt like God and the devil are playing tug of war. And you're the rope. "Forgive them father, for they do not know what they are doing" "Go and sin no more" But I'm nobody. Why should anyone listen to me? Guess everyone will have to take a gamble with their life.

There is a big difference between depression and what I experienced. Depression is when life is tough, not going your way, and you have no hope. What I experienced was transcendental. After decade of wanting the political left to die, I suddenly understood that I have to forgive them, so that I may be saved. "Judge not lest ye be judged". Almost like I read the Words before, but didn't understand the graveness of it. I love those crazies on the left and am desperate to save them from themselves.

Yea.. my defects evil deeds keep coming up to surface and I find myself pondering on these faults and praying God helps me get rid of them.

This clip seemed to downplay the painful nature of this experience. To talk about it in such a way as to minimise the darkness of it does little justice to the reality. The loss experienced is the loss of the felt experience of God and his closeness,which was a wonderful consolation. (maybe having lasted for a number of years) It is now gone , Darkness. and a deep sense of loss.

Spiritual gluttony and avarice is spoke about in the book. Everything has to be deprived and solely trust in God that he is there for us and with us no matter what. I’m going thru it right now. But if you want to experience that heavenly bliss I suggest you go out in public with a mini speaker and pray the Rosary. Especially where there’s a large gathering. The Virgin Mary always showers me with graces of consolation joy whenever I go in the Rosary missions here in Los Angeles.

In the dark night we can find no consolation. We can't manufacture it ourselves. We must just patiently bear with it and trust in God's own providence. I'm in my 70s and housebound through illness. The illness teaches humilty and patience. Love and God bless you. Veronica from Scotland. xxx

Since God does nothing to stop suffering, priests and pastors claim it's "good for you....later." Since they can't admit God is uncaring and must try to claim everything that happens is by God's plan and thus "eventually" "good".

Dark Knight or the soul quieting the senses the mind hearing emotions distracting one self from their senses by closing your eyes to hopefully reflect on the higher power which is God our creator and father dark knight of the soul
