Welcome to another video in my art journal series. I use my journal to warm up and try new techniques before for working on canvas or other projects.

Thank you for the encouraging and inspiring video. Even when it was not going to your satisfaction you persevered and kept going until you got to the place where you were happy with the final result. A lesson for us all. I like the finished result. Thank you, Cathy. :)

I love both versions , even the busier one , covered up by gesso 8 minutes in . It really felt like 2 paintings demo . Glad you are back , love watching you paint Cathy

Awww.. so happy you enjoyed it. I liked the busy one while I was editing it too, but then I guess that wasn't my mood when painting it. I just had to cover some of it up. ;) Thanks for watcing.

I sure would love to see you paint abstracts on larger canvasses!

I have a few reals on my instagram account and I post all my larger work there. I'll be doing an online course as well. Hopefully I'll have something finished this fall. 🥰

Hvor er det inspirerende og lærerigt at følge processen fra "elsker-ikke" til "elsker"😊 Tak fordi du formidler dine tanker og følelser så fint❤ og lærer os ikke at give op!

Tusen hjertelig takk. Så glad for at du finner inspirasjon i videoene mine Randi. Det beste jeg vet er når andre blir inspirert til å stå på og lage mer kunst.

Dear Cathy: i started painting on 2019 and studied online acrylic and watercolor, interested in abstract art. Now i found some demos showing your style free and sophistic which i love. Would like to know if you offer online classes. Your answer is appreciated! Petrin Diaz

Thank you so much Petrin. There is a class in the making. I am planning on releasing it late fall. 💜 If you head over to my website (www.cathymevik.com) you can sign up for my newsletter. I'll be announcing he release there first. 👍

Love it,and it was interesting watching your process. If I may, what spiral pad are you using that is able to with stand so much paint?
@CathyMevik5 жыл бұрын
Thank you ;) I'm using a 12x12 Daler-Rowney square spiral sketchbook. As long as I gesso it, I have no problems. I think it's 150g.

Hi- thanks for sharing- is the journal a multi media journal or what type of paper is it? Thanks.
@CathyMevik3 жыл бұрын
Hi Irene, This is not a mixed media journal. I's actually a sketchbook from Kunst & Papier in germany. It's calle a Wire-o-sketchbook and is 12x12 inches or 28x28 cm. The pages are 130gsm so thats why I have to gesso beforehand. Hope this helps. ❤

I love this!! Since I've found your channel I can't stop watching!! So you'll probably have loads of comment's from me, so I apologize in advance :) But I love your look and style! I'm on the hunt for a good but inexpensive brayer now because I LOVE the look it leaves. I can't get enough of the lines and stabilio(sp) pencil...I have a question, since these pencils are water soluble, how does it do with painting acrylic over it? Or do you seal before the acrylic? And do you seal the page once done, since the pencil is on there? I love how loose you're able to be...that's my dream!! Thanks for sharing!!
@CathyMevik3 жыл бұрын
Nothing to apologize for Jade. I love connecting!! 💗 I use the abig brayers with the metal handles. Don't know where you live but you can get rangers brayers on amazon. They are just like the abig ones. The stabilo all becomes more or less water resistant after it dries, but if you want you can seal it before painting over. I do both depending on the piece. I only seal my pages when I have charcoal, pastels or such on the last layer. Hope this helps! 🥰
