CATIA V5 - Create close solid bodies starting with STL files

If you ever wondered how you can converted an STL file to an editable solid body within CATIA V5 this is the workflow that will allow help you.

Excellent video sir thank you very much. I want to share a tip. If you have a simple model in STL that for some reason contains too many triangles, then you can run the "Decimate" command in Digitized Shape Editor and you can reduce the complexity while maintaining the same shape. This makes the surface reconstruction much faster.

@@3DComparison At several points you would click on something and I would have no idea you even clicked on an option because there is no way to track your mouse or clicks, leaving me all kinds of confused as to what just happened. I also didn't understand that top left corner of catia allowed you to switch between modules without starting a New file. In combination with the first thing I mentioned I was often confused as to how different menus are opening on your screen and why my windows don't look like or have the same options as yours as I was under impression I followed your steps exactly. Still again, a very useful video!

Hello! The mesh is define by more then two areas that are not connected. You need to divide them with the Mesh Cleaner. I will make another video regarding this problem!
